  1. It's a rollar coaster of love.
  2. A 400 foot dart throw to home! It'll be nice having a guy in CF that can actually throw runners out.
  3. I wouldn't assume that. They determined he was healthy enough to take a risk, not necessarily "very healthy". I agree and if he's having a fly ball hit to him I'm not too thrilled with him being flat footed like that. I wonder if there is pain in the achilles or calf/hamstring thus the flat foot approach.
  4. If he meant ARod I'm for it but I agree not for IRod. All these Rods and Miggy's it gets confusing.
  5. I thought they said Marshall was hurting?
  6. If the Cubs stay moderately healthy, I wonder how much Baker will say Lou was lucky because they were healthy? I say this because I think being in shape and not over pitching your pitchers is one way to keep them healthy and those are things Baker just didn't do. I know others have pointed this out but when the Cubs had that trainer that made them work in 2003 they were at their most healthy, I don't think it was a coincidence.
  7. I wonder how healthy he is? Healthy enough to keep his food down, so he doesn't have the flu. Ha...or eaten bad Peanut butter!
  8. He looks like Ryan Howard...without the injury luck. Fixed. Cliff Floyd has been a pretty damn good player in his career when healthy. I mean, he's no Ryan Howard, but a damn good hitter when he's been healthy. It would be funny to see a ball hitting the wall behind him while he's doing that. I wonder how healthy he is?
  9. Barrett can not play every game at catcher and that's the reasoning behind it. I'm for Barrett playing 3rd if and only if Ramirez is hurt and Barrett needs a day off from behind the plate and he's the best option. If the Cubs have a Macias type guy to play third I'd rather have Barrett there instead. Now, if the Cubs can put DeRosa at third and Theriot at 2nd and give Barrett the day off, that I'm for. When was the last time Barrett took a groundball over at 3B? I would rather have a guy like Theriot manage that position than having Barrett risking injury at 3B. He could work on it in the spring a little and what if Theriot is worse with the bat than Blanco this year?
  10. Do we know for a fact that Marquis can do a better job than any of the bullpen arms? The Cubs are going into the 2007 with a pretty strong bullpen. You should probably change your comment to "I'll believe this when Jason Marquis is sucking it up and moves to the most expensive bullpen catcher in MLB history." Do we know what incentives Wood has in his contract? You may be spot on with that if he has one for saves and he's in the pen and healthy.
  11. I blame the manager for that. Dusty rewarded plays like that with continued playing time. Moises Alou was too lazy to reach down and pick up a baseball, instead electing to kick it into the ivy to give the appearance it was hidden and a ground rule double, which turned into an inside the park home run. Alou was rewarded by staying in the game and playing the next game as well. Dusty seemed to embrace that kind of sloppy play. Unless a rookie did it. I agree. You don't have to get in their face and embarrass them but make sure they know what you expect and I think Lou will do that. God Baker bugged me.
  12. Lou has a lot of history managing and I'm curious on what he's done in the past regarding this issue?
  13. I think that's why he's talking now to get the Sox to make a move early before he shows his age this season. Yeah, that's what he was trying to do, but Boston said they weren't going to budge. I bet they are more than comfortable to risk having the price go up with a great 2007. That's what I would do if I were them. I'd also go to arb with him and get the picks if he flys the coup.

I'd rather give DeRosa the nod at 3b and put Theriot at 2nd while giving Barrett a valuable day off to rest. Me too but I'm still not sure on how good Theriot is going to be. I think and hope he'll be a 270/350 guy off the bench but he's still an unknown variable.

  17. I don't understand the value of that stat. If Blanco catches for worse pitchers he's the worst catcher? If they are catching different people, it is difficult to get a measure of the value of that stat. Being that they are on the same roster, both caught a decent percentage of the same starters, therefore I think the stat has some merit. I understand what you're saying but in baseball there are so many variables. Just say Blanco is catching Z and Pedro is the other pitcher and Barrett catches Z the next time and Marquis was the other pitcher, I don't know, I just don't see that stat as working.

  19. I sincerely hope you don't have a problem with the presence of foreigners on NSBB.   Maybe it's because you're as cold as ice and willing to sacrifice? And you know how we feel about giving away outs around here... :D Touche my good man!
  20. Not necessarily. And this sucks about DeRosa not being in the mix in the OF. I don't think that is written in stone. I think it's because of the lack of depth at second/infield unless Theriot proves he really is a decent player and not a late season fluke. The Cubs do have 4 quality OF's (if Floyd is healthy) and no DH so I understand why they are bugging Lou about this. Add to that mix the 5th Ward and there isn't a lot of room. They are too right handed for my taste right now though unless the leftys can hit lefty pitching.
  21. Maybe. I think if the other pitchers show they can pitch effectively I think they let him and his drama go.
  22. There's a big difference between a manager who wants something and a manager who will enforce something. Each manager enforces their pitchers to throw strikes. If they dont throw strikes, they wont be pitching for them anymore. Huh? You would be confused. I'm often confused by nonsensical rambling. Guys...please discuss what you feel about this subject and not take shots at each other? Thank you.

  24. Winthrop has only lost to UNC (by 7), Wisconsin (in overtime), aTm and Maryland. They're better than Illinois. BYU is 5-3 against top 50 RPI teams, and BYU is 3-3, whereas Illinois is 3-8. Just because these schools don't play in the Big Six conferences doesn't mean they're worse than Illinois. I think OSU, Wisconsin, Indiana and Moo all have better resumes than Illinois. I do think Illinois should get in, but they'll have to be nervous about the fates of some teams like Nevada, Winthrop, Butler and Memphis that are probably in even if they lose in their conference tourneys. Haha...Syracuse is one spot ahead of Holy Cross!
  25. There's a big difference between a manager who wants something and a manager who will enforce something. Each manager enforces their pitchers to throw strikes. If they dont throw strikes, they wont be pitching for them anymore. You have to be able to locate your pitches too. A strike is nice but getting too much plate in MLB will kill you. I hope the Cubs try to buy some of those umps the Braves had for years.
