  1. Now its up to dusty to get the cubs to play with that much intensity all summer long! Guillen did a good job with that last year for the Sox. It's what we're paying Dusty big bucks for..
  2. unfortuately stupid fans will vote a guy like Piazza or LoDuca as the starter regardless of Barret's numbers I hear ya, but don't underestimate the voting block of cubs fans. Last year we were able to pull Lee ahead of Pujols for 1B when Lee had better numbers. This year, Barrett is our man (in addition to Lee again of course...and Ramirez...and Cedeno at this rate)!
  3. 1 ) Cedeno is leading the league in batting average! He's en el fuego amigos! Ronnie is making us very happy that the Dodgers landed Furcal and that we didn't give up the farm for Lugo. 2 ) Murton's defense. Oh, how I loved the throw he made to 1B for the double play. How bout the leaping grab in the 1st inning at Cinci? And then there was the catch in the 9th last night. Murton is a joy to watch play. I like his walks too! 3 ) Derick Lee is doing just what he did last year. Three home runs already! If there was any doubt he would repeat his exceptional year, they are quickly going away. 4) Maddux looked very good in his first outing. Would love to see Greg with 16-18 wins and a 3.30 - 3.50 ERA this year. Likely? Probably not. Possible? Certainly! 5) Pie is tearing it up in AAA! Guzman hasn't allowed an earned run yet...oh, and EPatt has started hot....not to mention Gallagher... 6) Barrett is starting to run away from the pack of NL catchers. Ladies and Gents, your All star catcher... 7) How bout that bullpen?! How bout them apples boyeeeee! 8 ) Aramis is healthy. Aramis healthy = monster year. 9) Todd Walker's playing. 10) We're 4-1 without Prior and Wood (and Miller). When they come back...and they WILL come back...watch out!
  4. He and Murton have too much service time. Marshall? Marshall could, yep. So could Guz! Or beltran...i mean, Pagan!
  5. He and Murton have too much service time. Thanks...I knew Murton had too many at bats, but wasn't sure about the service time of Ronnie. Too bad.
  6. Can Ronnie qualify for rookie of the year? Or did he get too much service time last year?
  7. If Marshall had thrown that last pitch, it would have been called a ball!
  8. If the playoffs were to start today: NL Mets Brewers Rockies Cubs -- WC AL Red Sox Tigers A's Indians -- WC
  9. In other news, Sisco's about to give the Sox the game...
  10. I really never can understand comments like these with 4 more offensive innings coming up. What have we done with the previous 5 that would give you any hint that we would score in the next 4? But Carpenter will not be pitching a compete game. And the Cubs offense has been pretty good over the first 3 games.
  11. I'd pinch hit for Carpenter here. After all, how many more innings can he go? 1?
  12. Z should come out of the game now.
  13. Ronnie of all the time! I'm defending you here....!
  14. Nice way to atone for his mistake. :D how many errors is he going to have at the end of the season (assuming full time duty)? I'd guess 35. I'd be more, but the Wrigley scorer is generous (should have had 1 or 2 yesterday). Why are you so critical of Cedeno? And where is this one or two errors he should have had yesterday? You are referring to his double clutches...your logic doesn't make sense. Wrigley grass slows down the ball, so if it was outside of Wrigley, the ball would have come to him faster and he would have had MORE time to throw, not less. Ronnie is going to be a very good defensive shortstop. He already has one of the best ranges of EVERY shortstop in the majors. He also has a cannon for an arm. he's a rookie...allow his tools to develop. I would say he'll have much less than 35 errors this year. Did you even watch the game? Cedeno did great at the plate and piss poor in the field. That's fine, but his label for a long time was a "glove only man." I expect more from our "slick fielding shortstop." OMG, "one of the best ranges of EVERY shortstop in the majors?" Get real. I did watch the game. And you're jumping on him for TWO double clutches early in the game...both on throws he had a fair amount of time on to complete. Did you watch the game? If so, you have seen the very nice double play that he and Neifi completed. Without Cedeno's arm, the double play is NOT turned. You would have also seen him range WAY out into leftfield on a pop up. And you would have seen him make a half dozen chances (after the first two double clutches) that he handled very smoothly. Even Neifi, who presumeably would want to start at SS everyday, has praise for Cedeno's defense and defensive potential. Stop hatin' on Ronnie just for the sake of it!

I'd be more, but the Wrigley scorer is generous (should have had 1 or 2 yesterday). 35 is a bit much. I'd guess he'll get better as the season goes on. He'll have 20 easily though, if he starts 140+ games. I don't know. He's bobbled or double clutched just about every play. He's got to get used to charging the ball with Wrigley's long grass. He double clutched TWICE....both were in the first 3 innings of play. He had MANY chances.

  17. Details plz? :) He ranged well out into leftfield to cradle a pop up.
  18. Felipe Lopez was the NL's best SS last year. I hope he does good this year. My fantasy league is counting on it ) Ronnie's gonna be the best this year!!! 8)
