  1. If Brandon gets the record setting #26 tonight that will be extremely impressive.
  2. Failing to listen to that game should be grounds for automatic banning from NSBB. :D Now that I said that, watch me lose my Internet connection. I'm planning to be there in person, listening in on Dixie 1310. I'm worried the Internet site may not have enough bandwidth.
  3. Is someone beginning to get nervous?
  4. When you posted I started to accuse you of trying for a reverse jinx, but held back for fear I would jinx your reverse jinx. So don't blame me.
  5. That's what I tell my boss.
  6. Sing got a HR, tying the DJaxx season record. Go Brandon!
  7. DJaxx has a name - Ron called out a get well soon to his upcoming broadcast partner.
  8. I think a better way of saying it is that JVB is very likely to be on someone's 40 man roster this winter.
  9. Some of us don't have audio at work so if you want to make this a game thread I'd appreciate it.
  10. You underestimate yourself - that sounds like an economist to me.
  11. Wouldn't Mench be nice!!!! If Mench is available for trading, then I think a deal could be made. As a Ranger fan, I see Mitre and his ground ball stats and I'd love to see him in Arlington. I think the Cubs will have to throw in (a lot) more, but the Rangers do need pitching.
  12. Hey, my daughter got to do that. She thought it was really cool. I'm not ripping on the "being a batkid" part. Hell, if I got to do that at 10 that would have made my life. I was ripping on the "waving like a total dork to the camera for 15 seconds" part. Yeah, she knows little about baseball and cares less, but she remembers Steve Bouchelle was really nice to her - and I don't think they showed video back then.
  13. Hey, my daughter got to do that. She thought it was really cool.
  14. Maybe the DJaxx should play their home playoff games at Wrigley.
  15. Forget worrying about their confidence. 2 bad starts by rookies in the major leagues shouldn't be entirely unexpected. Make it clear they will be continuing to start for the remainder of the year and let them worry about improving their game instead of whether or not they are going to be sent down. At Texas Chris Young had like 4 or 5 bad starts from late June through all July, but primarily because Texas has no other options they kept sending him out, and this week he pitched 7 shutout innings. (Admittedly against freefalling Baltimore, but still)
  16. Sure, the only ones that get to stay in Chicago are the ones who have performed at Pringles Park - I guess that's Murton and Nomar. You think you can handle broadcasting both radio and TV by yourself? Think about it, everyone gets what they deserve except for maybe the Wrigley fans (and they can't be any worse off). Jackson gets a team of losers, the Cubs no longer get soldout crowds for dubious performance, and the DJaxx team would finally get to play for a full house. Let's call Disney and see if we can get this movie into production.
  17. Chicago Cubs for West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The Cubs and the city of Jackson, TN deserve each other.
  18. Why not just bring up Greenberg? He's got your OBP and steals at a high rate, and will be a whole lot cheaper than Pierre. And I'm talking about his WestTenn OBP (.382), not his major league leading 1.000. :D
  19. In addition to Herschel Walker previously mentioned, can you provide some other examples of teams trading away their star to get better? I guess the Rangers trading away ARod would qualify. Maybe the Bulls should have traded Jordan away at his height... The Pat's trading Bledsoe A Phils and Indians trade awhile back with Von Hayes I also do not consider Jordan to be like Prior. One basketball player can really make a difference while one baseball player won't make an impact like that....except for Bonds and Prior is no Bonds. Bledsoe doesn't count because a football team only needs one starting quarterback and the Pat's had 2.
  20. In addition to Herschel Walker previously mentioned, can you provide some other examples of teams trading away their star to get better? I guess the Rangers trading away ARod would qualify. Maybe the Bulls should have traded Jordan away at his height...
  21. That's exactly the kind of thing winning organizations do worry about.
  22. How in the heck could Mench clear waivers to be traded? GMs try to avoid making enemies by blocking waiver trades. That and his expected big payday in arbitration or extension might make small market teams think twice. That being said I still think it's unlikely that they trade him before the offseason. I understand not wanting to make enemies, but if I'm a manager and I see a guy on the waiver wire that might help one of my competitors (and he's relatively cheap like Mench this year), making nice or not I'm going to claim him to prevent him being traded to my competitor. I would have to see an example of someone like Mench being traded after the waiver deadline before I would believe the GM's would be so chummy.

  24. Sele picked up by the Rangers Second item
  25. Maddux is good enough to be Atlanta's 5th starter but not good enough for the Cubs?
