  1. Hill's CERA is through the roof!!!
  2. you have got to be kidding me. how bad do we need to be?
  3. not saying they're lying, but it sounds sort of like calling in to work with a bad case of diarriaha (sp). when you get back, your boss won't harrass you about it.
  4. the line looks like marshall did well, at least.
  5. Well, they do have Woody Williams pitching, so I'm not too concerned. If there's one pitcher that the Cubs should be able to win against without both Ramirez and Soriano, it's Williams.
  6. Hell, Tejada just did. I know Dunn is younger and cheaper, but I don't think it's completely impossible. And someone lumped Dunn in with all the others as a "miserable option?" Right. From what I understand, Tejada did not clear waivers, but was claimed from them by the White Sox. Right, but as bad as the Sox are, aren't there teams below them that could have put in a claim first? My point is that if the teams have a "gentleman's agreement," it seems unlikely that people just swoop in and bust up the deail unless it's some kind of superstar player. Well, I guess I don't understand what you meant by "Tejada just did" then. And Dunn is certainly some kind of superstar player. If I am a team, like the Sox, that is just playing out the schedule this year, but plans to be good next year, then I am claiming Dunn - gentleman's agreement or not.
  7. good that he's back up. i really hope that, if what people say is true about piniella, he "proves himself" at the major league level and forces lou to put him in the rotation, where he belongs. Gallagher >>>> Marquis.
  8. me plus i got a bunch of my friends to vote for you, too. GO VANCE!

  10. Hahahaha  He is a professional athlete, if he can't handle the pressure he should work as a toll booth operator or something. Jeez, the excuses are already starting to roll before the game even starts. Would be nice to see him step up and force Lou to play him. are Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez under the pressure of going 3 for 4 with no errors every game? I know that's not really the argument you want to make, is it Derwood? I mean, Murton has the potential - or more importantly has shown in the past - that he can be a dependable Major League outfielder. But Aramis or Lee? It's not about whether he can duplicate their careers. It's about the fact that ballplayers should not be judged on any one game, and shouldn't have undue pressure on performing in any one game, or even a handful of games. It's bad enough when teams do this with 1st year players, but with guys who have already produced in the majors? It's even more ridiculous. I understand that. You did see where I said that, right? What I am saying is that it's not fair to say Murton should have as little pressure to perform as Lee or Ramirez. In my opinion, no one on this team should not be under significant pressure, excluding the two previously mentioned and Soriano. Murton should certainly be getting more of a fair shake than he is, but he also is not yet an all-star by any means.
  11. Gallagher FTW. He should be starting over Marquis right now.

  13. it seems like the astros have been playing decent lately, too.
  14. The problem with NorthsideBasketball is that it's initials are NSBB just like this one. If you want consistency without redundancy, I'd go with NorthsideHoops. FTW
  15. northsidefootball. while it doesn't make as much sense as wcf, nsbb is pretty widely known, and i think, as far as branding goes, it would be the smartest move.
  16. Good now lets pray #600, #700, and #800 come in a Cubs uniform  crazy to think that he probably has 300 homeruns left in him. wow.
  17. Maine is going to devestate the cobs. Soriano w/3 k's, Ramirez w/2, even Lee will strikeout twice. This does not look good.
  18. how many times can we vote? this site should be going crazy to make this happen. len is familiar with nsbb, right? if you slipped in a little comment on air, this place would probably blow up, moreso if we are in the middle of a pennat run at that time! how incredibly awesome, vance.
  19. Saints, FTW
  20. i'm pretty sure that, at least in part, this is how soccer teams are owned abroad. seems pretty successful for them.
