    shortly after he was picked, Hendry or Wilken said it was a possibility. I can see him finishing this season as a reliever and start stretching him out over the offseason but how would that work? you would lose some arb years if they brought him up this year as a reliever then spent the following season stretching him out as a starter in the minors, right?

    that part about 'who wouldn't want to be a cub?' makes me tear up a bit. i honestly don't care if it's sabbathia, harden, or burnett. if we get one of those three, this roster will be sitting pretty.

    was it a little shocking when he signed? sure, but i find myself expecting edmonds to help the cubs win in some way every game. and most games, he has. i'm about my favorite team winning the world series, not immature beefs between local rivalries.

    so stupid, lou. thank god for Jim Edmonds. :vomits: i don't know. i mean, z isn't much worse, if at all, than most of the bench guys. plus he's a switch hitter. cox had a lefty and righty ready to go, so it wasn't THAT ridiculous of a move, even if he did get pulled directly after.

    it's just people trying to be cute, have something to plus a post count, or have a 'told you so' if the cubs magically lose three games in a row within two weeks of a thread like this. just like the two times there were threads like 'cubs have won 7 in a row,' then they lose two out of four, as if eventually that wasn't going to happen. this is a grade a fun team to watch, jinx' be damned.

    Gallagher didn't benefit from the wind half as much as Kuroda did tonight. He had good stuff. Although, I wish he wouldn't try to get fancy after getting ahead. That's what Wood used to do, and is what, imo, caused as many issues with his arm as the innings did. Just be efficient, stay in the zone (preferably low and away or up and in), and let the awesomeness that is our offense take care of you.

    between a few new people posting about this here and the link earlier in the thread, i can't help but think dusty has a street-team of some sort trying to do pro-baker revisionist history. is dusty a bad person? no, he seems nice enough. is dusty a bad manager? yes.
