  1. So, let me get this straight: the Cubs haven't won in 100 years as a result of bad karma for booing the Astros 100 years AFTER the last time they won a world series? http://forum.alsacreations.com/upload/2043-fail-camera.jpg
  2. idk. very little at imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0997045/
  3. http://rksbaseballbookshelf.wordpress.com/category/documentary/Chasing October (2007)
  4. Eric Karros? pretty sure there was a regular dude who did a documentary following the team that entire year. white kid, black hair. can't remember much else.
  5. i remember someone else making a documentary in 2003.
  6. i am a fan of the cubs, and while it's nice that Wrigley is a part of that, i don't root for a stadium. i think it is entirely possible to have a new stadium that stays true to Wrigley, but is a better facility. i mean, we pay very good, hard earned cash for a very good to great atmosphere with good to poor actual seats. without belittling people who are in it for the whole experience, i'm in it for the baseball game. but then again, i loathe crowded bars and find drunk people to be generally annoying, so much of that atmosphere isn't really my thing. with the cubs having built a decent record of winning (relative to the past) with these recent cub teams, the fan base is pretty solid, and people are going to come out to a new stadium, and with more seating, the cubs will have more payroll flexibility, which - so long as the gm is decent - means better players, scouts, and managers. which means the cubs should win more. which is what i value more than a stadium. plus i feel bad that the players have to have those crappy club houses. with all that said, i'd prefer a complete renovation, but would not be opposed whatsoever to a new stadium. admit it, the chicago skyline behind the bleachers would be pretty dope on a friday night. edit: 27
  7. a hell of a lot of fun to be a cubs fan during this.
  8. good call. i was really young, but i was already full immersed in cubdom, so i snuck out and watched the postgame celebration from behind my dad's recliner. when did we clinch? i have this memory of doing it in montreal, and hearing harry caray say "the joy of victory" as the camera showed the cubs celebrating, and "and the agony of defeat" as it showed andres galaragga in the expos' dugout, but i've never been able to remember if it was true or made up. Yep, it was absolutely in Montreal. Mitch Williams got the save. I think a checked swing was involved in the final out. hey, not bad for an 8 year old cool! totally remember that call, then. :)
  9. good call. i was really young, but i was already full immersed in cubdom, so i snuck out and watched the postgame celebration from behind my dad's recliner. when did we clinch? i have this memory of doing it in montreal, and hearing harry caray say "the joy of victory" as the camera showed the cubs celebrating, and "and the agony of defeat" as it showed andres galaragga in the expos' dugout, but i've never been able to remember if it was true or made up. that's funny, because i can never tell if my memory of it is real, or if its been exaggerated over the years. i remember being in the back seat of the family's station wagon while my dad and i waited for my sisters buying leotards, and it was on the radio... mitch williams probably wasn't even on that team.
  10. The first 10 games, 7 innings of the 2003 post-season combine as a big fat first for me. Then this, then wood, then Sammy. i remember as a kid the cubs clinching in 89. clinching last year, the day when andre dawson went crazy and threw all those bats onto the field. cubs v atl 03, trading for nomar, series vs stl in 03, huge comeback win this year... other than 03, this is my favorite. it would probably be up there with the 03 memories if the whole thing would have been televised. that bootlegged internet feed wasn't great, but still... tonight was amazing.
  11. with good right, but he is hilariously bitter about froemming.
  12. =D> :P :-)) 8-) :shock: :) :D :!: :!: :!: :!: O:) =P~ :) :grin: :D) \:D/ ;) :thumbsup: :amen: :yahoo:
  13. i sincerely hope we make some defensive replacements in the 9th. wooooo.
  14. Santo's call after the homerun: "Well, there goes the shutout!" Haha
  15. good lord the brewers suck. have they lost like 10 of 11 or something?
  16. Len will be the face of the Cubs announcing crew for many years to come, I think.
  17. the problem is, that if the cubs were to be the first to clinch, that allows them the right to rest players for a period of time before the postseason starts. if the team the cubs play in the first round doesn't clinch until the last couple days of the season, then the cubs playing three extra games after the regular season schedule gives their opponent the luxury of extra days to set up their rotation, specifically. this is kind of bullhowry.
  18. lol @ the phrase 'the quiet canadian' yr poetic velocity was way up for that post.
  19. there's no way this game is completed
  20. DuBois isn't on the 40 man though. Does that not matter at this point?
  21. hadn't realized there were about 60 games each station. figured csn had played many more than wgn.
  22. Maybe because Wood got a double play ground ball.
