  1. Slugging Percentage: Floyd .380 Murton .371 I'm just saying. Murton has 4 hrs and 9 doubles in 178 ab's while Floyd has 4 hr's and 8 doubles in 220 ab's. Floyd hasnt hit a hr since June 26, my God thats pathetic.
  2. Great outing by Marquis, I was really worried in the 1st, but he worked out of it and threw a good game. We need some of our other pitchers to pick up the slack of Lilly right now, and Marquis last night and Hill his last start have done that.
  3. sure would be nice if he could go on a 30 game power spree. I really cant believe hes only hit 4 damn hr's this year.
  4. I'd be curious to see what those number look like over the course of his (brief) career. I think we all know that "clutch hitting" seems to fluctuate from year to year usually ending up about the same as the player's over all numbers. all his hitting stats have declined each of his 3 years. I am all for "career" stats, but we are in a pennant race and we need him to start hitting with men on base. Right now, he is a rally killer. Are you actually serious? You act as if his .820 OPS hes put up in August hasnt helped the Cubs at all. Let me ask you this, is a hit with a runner in scoring position more important than a hit that starts the rally?
  5. Pie is not allowed to bat anymore apparently, but Fontenot and his sub .600 OPS since the break gets to. Hell I would have been happy with Floyd Pie Ward in the OF if it means DeRo is at 2nd and not Fontenot. Yeah, I think Fontenot has long passed his useful period. But since he was hot 2 months ago, Lou is overlooking the fact that he has been awful for well over a month. Players do slump. Surprising, I know. He's been slumping since the beginning of July. He put up a .480 OPS in July and has a .592 OPS in August. watch out hes on a hot streak
  6. Or you would have thought that Buck was watching Pujols trot the bases? Heh. Come on Raisin what are you talking about? Pujols takes off sprinting like a deer when he hits a hr, I dont know what u are talking bout......

  8. Miggy with a solo HR 2-0 FLA, and now Buck cant stop talking about how long its taking him to get around the bases. You would have thought Miggy was walking the way Buck was ranting over it. I hate Joe Buck !!!!!!!!!!
  9. All so Pujols could choke and hit into a inning ending double play. 1-0 FLA after 3
  10. My God somebody get Buck off his knees hes in Ankiels way. Error on ol Jimmy boy leads to a run for FLA. 1-0 in the 3rd
  11. Yea I know, I mean his .820 OPS in August is killing the club.
  12. I actually get a kick out of your sig dude, but don't you think in retrospect it wasn't the worst move in the world for Lou? At the very least it took some of the media pressure off the team at a time when they needed it. Lol yea I need to find a new one but havent had time to look. I was at Sat game and Ive never heard Wrigley as loud as it was on Wards grand slam. Its 2 days since, and I still hve no voice lol
  13. DeRo baby!!!! Hey look we hit Hrs now!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. they would complain because their idea of what a good lineup should be is so ingrained in them that they can't handle a little statistical analysis. Here's your "oh god what a horrible lineup" in terms of OBP: .150 (rough average of our starting pitchers' OBP) .404 .332 .366 .331 .368 .405 .350 .336 minus the pitchers spot, that lineup is barely different than the "traditional" lineup (and both, in terms of OBP, are poorly constructed) Never looked at it that way and that is pretty interesting and true. However, by having your best hitters hit earlier gives them more ABs per game and per season. And if it does only affect 1 or 2 games, that COULD conceivably be the difference of making it to the playoffs or going home come October. Therefore line-up order does matter. But it matters a lot less than what people think it does.
  15. Then why was everyone soo upset when Neifi and Izturis went 1-2 in the lineup last year? If it wouldn't matter if they batting 7th 8th, or 1-2, I don't see what the uproar was all about. Because by having Neifi and Izturis at 1-2 you are giving them more ab's than what they would get if they were batting 7-8.
  16. Seriously Marmol should be in, that ball was hit hard as hell
  17. If Marmol isn't pitching the 9th... Hes not guess they are saving him for when Dempster gets in trouble
  18. Marmol closing this? I bet he does
  19. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and I forgive you JJ for looking lost out there
  20. Damn you Bob, WHERE THE HELL IS MARMOL
  21. I dont know why, but I just LOL on that. Come on Bob get this SOB out!
  22. The sad thing is, if Jacque Jones hit 60 HRs and was given nightly curtain calls he would still never like the Cubs. For some reason, the Cubs fans just hated him like no other Cubs. Think about all of our bad FAs signings, none were ever hated as much as Jacque. The man hit a career high in HRs and was still hated by the Cubs. Not fair, and I feel really bad for the guy because you have to believe that he thinks racism is the reason. We hated Latroy Hawkins more. A lot more. Todd Hundley too. Based on performance... Cubs fans were ecstatic about the signing. Todd Hundley too. Cubs fans were ready to boo jacque heartily the moment he first stepped into the box at Wrigley. I dont believe that at all. Jones started out horrible, and the team was horrible, and it free falled from there. I don't see it that way. The Jacque Jones signing was vilified on boards like this. Cubs fans came out with pitchforks waiting to use them on Jacque it seems. They were booing him crazy on the first Saturday of the season because he started out 0-10 or something like that. These are his OPS by month last year: .748,.853,.896,.679,.881,.887. Those numbers, save 1-2 months are pretty consistent. Other than maybe his rough first week as a Cub and July when the whole team was horrible, there were no stretches where the fans needed to call him out and boo him. He finishes the season with 27 HR and a +.800 OPS and gets off to a slow start this season and immediately the booing continues. But JJ also brought up the fans to the media early on, and mentioned something about Latroy warning him or something, so he kind of did bring it on himself. He was the "fall guy" though for part of last season in some stupid fans eyes.
