  1. Hell Im surprised he remembers what a bat is, I figured he would have put them away by now.
  2. http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?gameid=2007/08/28/milmlb-chnmlb-1 No 2 tickets together for one, and since this game is on a weekday I cant go. If I lived in Chicago it would be different, but since they decided to make this a weekday series instead of a weekend series like it should be, Ill be watching on TV.
  3. omg a Felix sighting in the 1st inning....
  4. Cool down. I don't think many people here are praising Hendry's job as GM. I know I'm not. We're just saying this is a smart move. There are some who are saying this is a smart move, but there is an awful lot of Hendry ass kissing going on in this thread by some people. What a stupid remark. What a stupid remark. Boy, it sure is fun adding nothing to a discussion with ignorant posts like that huh? Yes, yes, and stating that there is a lot of people kissing Hendry's posterior is very insightful and helpful to the convo. I don't know why it bugs me b/c I think Hendry's overall performance as GM has been below avg at best, but I hate it when people fire low-ball insults at anyone who likes him. I find it equally annoying when he and Piniella are called "stupid" or "idiot". I just think there is a better way. If you read this thread there are alot of people basically kissing Hendrys ass, saying "hes got us to the playoffs", "he got us DLee and ARam" etc... I just really dont understand how at this point in Hendrys regime, people can still be praising him, and saying hes done an ok job.

  6. dude, nice that you're in Abingdon. I grew up in Galesburg. that being said, everything in your post is completely wrong. first of all, the Cub payroll has not topped 100M to date. not this year, not any year. secondly, the Cubs under Hendry are just over .500 if i remember correctly. thirdly, the Cub farm was NEVER rated top three. the Cubs, under Hendry, have made the playoffs. is Hendry good? Or even passable? No, not in my opinion. However, you need to set the record straight, dude... Thats cool you are from Galesburg, and not sure if you have heard but it was struck very very hard yesterday with the storms. Also Im actually now in Pekin, but grew up in Abingdon, send me a pm with who you are if you want, Im sure we know some of the same people. Now, as others have already mentioned, nothing in my post is wrong. The farm system that Hendry built was ranked as high as #1 at one point. Secondly, regardless of the exact dollar amount in the payroll, he has had one of the highest payrolls in baseball to work with the last few years, and what has he done with it?Thirdly, I wasnt wrong about the Cubs being average or below average with Hendry. The Cubs record coming into this season under Hendry was 322-326, which is below average, and even adding this seasons record into it puts them basically average.Lastly, I dont know what your point is about the Cubs under Hendry making the playoffs, big deal. 1 time in 4 years, with more payroll flexibility than any GM ever for the Chicago Cubs. Im sorry, I am not satisfied with just making the playoffs. If Hendry had done a better job and done a better job with what has been given too him, we wouldnt still be talking about having never won a WS in any of our lifetimes.
  7. Man I need some Hennesy after watching Z and the Cubs offense today
  8. Of course it would be nice if we could win games that favor us on paper, like Z vs. Cain Eh, it evens out as the Cubs won the game where the Giants looked better on paper (Lincecum vs. Marquis). And Cain has arguably been better than Z this season. With a 5-13 record????? wow
  9. Every pitcher on the Cubs' problem is walks. Until they can quit walking guys they really cant be used in a tight game. fixed Agreed
  10. Kerrys problem as a starter was walks, and it hasnt changed as a reliever. Until he can quit walking guys he really cant be used in a tight game.
  11. Pie is not allowed to bat, defensive specialist and pinch runner. So a rich man's Pablo Ozuna? Yup, isnt that what top prospects are for?
  12. Pie is not allowed to bat, defensive specialist and pinch runner.
  13. Hes had a good day, lets hope hes breaking out of his 2 month long slump, he could be useful.
  14. How is it bipolar to say Z has major control issues and hasn't been the best pitcher on the team this season (aka not an ace - he has a 4.00 ERA). The criticisms are coming now that he's making $18 million a year. It's not just Z. It's the whole freakin team. Yes, the team sucks. But guys likes Alfonso, Derrek, Aramis and Z are going to draw more criticism because they are better than they are showing now and because they are paid a lot of money. Hell Hill takes a beating around here by many, and hes making the league minimum, and has outpitched Z all year. Going by ERA, Hill has outpiitched all of our starters. I know, I was using Z since he is supposed to be our best pitcher.
  15. I do hope you realize that Cain is 5-13 and Zito has an ERA of close to 5. You don't get 13 losses by being THAT nasty. This is a last place team we're talking about here. They should be sweeping these bums, especially with Z on the mound. Cains record is an anomaly. He has a better ERA than Z, who is supposedly our ace
  16. For some reason I feel like you would say this even after the last out in the 9th inning is recorded lol

  18. I'm much more concerned about this anemic offense than I am Carlos Zambrano. You arent concerned about your supposed ace having an almost 4. ERA? No, Z has been really good over the last two months. This offense is terrible. Might want to check your stats before stating false things.

  20. I wouldn't exactly call the second most wins in the majors a terrible season, but it should certainly be better. Wins? Really, wins?
  21. So nice to have an ace who consistently walks people, meltsdown, and cant pitch past the 6th inning on alot of days. So how long before a new "Is Z Hurt" thread?
  22. HAHAHA maybe Z should have walked him again.
  23. and if we had a real right fielder we might not have allowed any runs. Or if our "ace" didnt walk the opposing teams pitcher we might not have allowed runs
