  1. Yeah, I know. We do much better with Hernandez out there. Yea Hoye just sticks out to me like crazy because of that game where everybody was butchering his name, and just started calling him different names.
  2. We really needed the Reds to lose today so we could have a chance at 1st place by Sunday, but with Stl playing Cincy over the weekend there isnt a way we can overtake Cincy and Stl right?
  3. What's a realistic alternative that keeps Fox up here? Soriano to the DL? Something involving Patton? Soriano was on TV saying he feels good, so I dont think there is any chance hes DL'd. I think the only way Fox gets to stay is if the Cubs finally cut their ties with Patton and the 12 pitchers. Fox has more chance of helping us the next 11 games against Milw, Atl, and Stl then Patton does. Our starting pitchers lead the majors in QS, and the bullpen has thrown either the least amount of innings in the majors or near the least. Carrying 12 pitchers is absurd when you need offense like this team does.
  4. Reed Johnson supposedly coming off the DL Monday, and Angel Guzman is expected also. So Monday we have 3 roster moves to make. Im guessing Hart, Fox, and Fuld go down.
  5. Dave Kaplan may just be the most ignorant Cub fan in the world. Hes sucking Fuld off like crazy right now
  6. http://www.weather.com In from left at 5 mph. Thanks Fred, I cant ever remember which way the wind has to be blowing to be blowing out.
  7. I understand the supposed "Coors effect" but its getting to the point in the season where the wind should be blowing out more often than its blowing in, thus playing as a hitters park. Im not too concerned with the Coors numbers.
  8. Id rather see Hoff in the lineup for Soriano than Fuld. Any word on what the wind is going to be like at gametime?
  9. Why arent you hopeful? We miss Gallardo, we are at home, and we have our suppposed top 4 pitchers going. If there was ever a time for hope, this series is it.
  10. Again yea this isnt an earth shattering move, but his numbers vs leftys are very good in his career, and if used properly(platooned with Font) he could be valuable.
  11. Doubtful. Hendry isn't going to admit his mistake and release Miles and I doubt the Rockies want him. Freel will be the one on his way out most likely. Col doesnt have to want Miles, Baker was traded here for a single A pitcher. I would assume Freel is gone tonight, but come Monday when we activate ARam, I could see Miles getting released. Lou has been playing Blanco alot, and he really is our best defensive infielder.
  12. We HAVE to make up ground during this 11 game homestand. We have the 3rd best home record in the NL, and we miss Gallardo in this series, while we throw our suposed best 4 pitchers. 3 of 4 would be good and a sweep would be fantastic. Im way to pumped for a series in early July, but this is a statement series.
  13. You can remove the question mark as espnchicago is now reporting this aslo. We didnt give up anything of value, and Baker will be in uniform ready for tonights game. Wonder what the corresponding move will be. Im going to say Freel is DFA http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=4302300 Not sure why that article says he will be backing up 1st and 3rd. I really hope they plan on letting him play 2nd base against leftys.
  14. Slight upgrade over Miles? Do you just ignore stuff thats posted? Baker has a career OPS over.900 against leftys and a slugging pct over .550. Thats a hell of alot more of an upgrade over Miles than "slight". If used correctly, him and Fontenot could be a really nice platoon at 2nd.
  15. Getting ready to start the biggest series of the year so far, and we still have no gamethread?
  16. Baker has a .902 OPS in his career vs lefties. Its in only 204 at bats but hes hit 13 HRs in those 204 at bats and has a slugging pct of 559 against leftys in his career. I dont know how his defense is, but if Font could get his numbers back to respectability, a platoon of Baker and Font at 2nd base could be pretty productive. Im going to assume we gave up nothing of value for him, and maybe, just maybe, this could end the Miles ERA.
  17. Sandoval misses a pop up, and umpire blows a strike 3, and then Rasmus hits a walkoff what a joke
  18. Where the eff was that pitch blue?
  19. A crap reliever?
  20. Apparently he found himself tonight huh. And yes you keep playing the guy who has a track record in Japan, and hit the [expletive] out of the ball in April, over the career AAA player with a crap OPS in his career.
  21. You do realize Fuku hit a HR and had another hit tonight too right?
  22. Where are you seeing Gordon to Detroit is done? All I keep seeing is hes visiting there today and could get offer, but nothing about him signing. sorry, i should have said that that's the prevailing opinion. Ah ok yea I think he will see what Det offers then go back to Chi and see if they will match or beat it. I still think hes back in Chicago.
