  1. You got to be [expletive] kidding me
  2. Ahh the good old Dusty Baker fundamentals of baserunning.
  3. He wasn't even close to those pitches. I know, the damn ball was in the catcher mitt on the 1st pitch he swung at. He really needs to give up hitting LH for the rest of the year, and just hit RH
  4. How can Bradley be soooo damn late on an 87 and 88mph fastball?
  5. Nice job ARam. And wow the ball is carrying today, this could be a high scoring day.
  6. I love me some Fuku leading off
  7. While I agree Im not sure the Reds are a team Id want Fox back there against. Dickerson, Taveras, and Phillips would run wild more than likely. I just cant believe they Cubs have stuck with only 1 catcher for this long, and Lou was quoted saying Soto wont be back till 1st of Aug. We are getting ready to start a 30 games in 31 days stretch, and we have 1 catcher. Its absurd
  8. Yea thats how I see it also. IF our offense is hitting to their career norms, I still like our offense better, and our pitching is better. If anything this pulls the Cards closer to the Cubs, but doesnt come close to giving them the division.
  9. Id guess Dempster takes his start and Hart stays in rotation for now.
  10. A 719 OPS in 100 at bats with horrible D vs a 680 OPS in 200 at bats with good D is pretty equal. Lugo is about 20 points higher in OBP this year than his career. Its crap for crap. The last 2 years Lugo has had OPS of 640 and 680, so hes outproducing his last 2 years so far, how long will that last?
  11. Reds Lineup Dickerson Taveras Votto Phillips Encarnacion Nix Hanigan A. Gonzalez Harang
  12. Fuku Theriot Lee Aram Bradley Sori Fontenot Hill Wells
  13. 2 1st rounders I believe Then this is a pretty good trade. We will see though. Those picks more than likely are at least 4-5 years away from the majors, and if Holliday leaves they have quite a few holes to fill next year. Add in the fact that Pujols contract is up soon, having a guy like Wallace under the teams control for the years ahead, and cheap would help big time. When is Wainwright up for free agency? Ludwick? Yadi?
  14. He has not outhit Lugo this year. Julio Lugo .284 .352 .367 Brendan Ryan this year .275 .313 .367 They are pretty close offensively that Ryans D makes up for the little bit of advantage Lugo has so far offensively this year.
  15. Who is Lugo an upgrade of? Brendon Ryan can run circles around Lugo defensively, and has hit better than Lugo this year as well. Lugo isnt better than Skip. The only person I can think Lugo is an upgrade of is Thurston, which is really not a big deal.
  16. Lugo at SS would be fantastic. He cant play D for [expletive], and Glaus at 3rd beside him with his gimp arm would be even better. There are reports Glaus cant make throws to 1st base, but yet you just expect him to come right back and be last years Glaus. Your posts of doom and gloom for the Cubs, and roses and unicorns for everybody else crack me the [expletive] up. He doesnt need to be last years Troy Glaus. Ive never said anything about doom and gloom for the Cubs, but right about now, the Cards seem to have the better lineup on paper, and its pretty scary looking. Glaus is coming off major shoulder surgery and has yet to step on a Major League diamond this year. To expect him to do anything at all is ignorant. I dont know how you can honestly say you have never said anything about doom and gloom for the Cubs, that is basically what 75% of your posts consists of. Even if the Cards linup on paper looks better(I dont agree with if our team is hitting to their career norms) our pitching 1-5 is still better than theirs. They helped themselves, but they didnt leap in front of anyone.
  17. no [expletive] 20? Hell Im thinking more like 30 and 100RBIs in the 2nd half. I mean Pujols and Holliday will never get out again, so hes going to have plenty of chances.

  19. Oh for fucks sake, this trade isnt 20 minutes old, and ESPN is now talking Holliday up as a "true baseball player", "a student of the game", etc.... Give me a [expletive] break.
  20. I don't think this is a great deal for the Cardinals. They've definitely made themselves better, but they paid a very high price for Holliday. He isn't playing all that well and is a half season rental. I think they would have been better off inquiring about Luke Scott who would have cost them less and is signed for more than half a year. You haven't been paying attention for awhile. Yea he still isnt hitting for much power, but hes gotten alot better since April. 872 814 and 976 OPS so far the last 3 months. I think Holliday is more a 850 OPS type guy, than a 900+. Good deal for the Cards as hes better than anything they have right now, but giving up your best prospect for a .5 season rental is always iffy. Granted they will get 2 1st round picks probably, but Wallace wasnt far from the Majors, and with Pujols deal up soon, they need to find as much cheap help as they can so they can keep him. He's also a very good LF adding to his overall value. Wallace's value was tied to his ability to be able to play a respectable 3b. My guess is that the scouts felt that he wouldn't be able to. He obviously wouldn't have been able to play 1b and who knows about LF. My guess is that the Cards are going back to the 2000-2006 business model. I would expect to see Holliday and DeRosa back next year. I just dont see the Cardinals paying Holliday 15 million over 4 or 5 years that he is going to ask for.
