This just makes me wish Creed was the manager instead of Joe. Only if Pam is there to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. I think the real answer is to find a Pam for Joe. -
The icing on this poop cake will be when Russell is lauded as having "saved the season" as the Cubs inevitably turn it around some time in the next 20 games. "Cubs' record before Addison Russell return: 11-17 After: 41-26" or some such graphic around the all-star break.

Because there's selection bias in those splits. He doesn't see very many left handed hitters, and the few that he does see are guys like Rizzo who are going to skew the stats. That's the idea, anyway. It's certainly possible he jut has reverse splits, but I'm way to lazy to do any real digging into this. That's true, but I feel that Schwarber is a guy like Rizzo, where as Zagunis is not a guy like Rizzo. Schwarber is not a “guy” like Rizzo. Zagunis is not a lefty. Your words are broken.

Add Russell, keep Zobrist, lose Zag and Bote. That’s your normal lineup vs lefties. Oh and apparently bat the pitcher 8th.

First, I almost forgot this thread is about the Hendrix extension. With that in mind, I would like to say this is not the time to extend Baez. Second, I feel like Javy is likely to injure himself with his 125% play at some point in the next few years, unless is actually freezing and unfreezing time. Actually, the more I think about it, the simplest answer is that he is freezing and unfreezing time and that somewhere his parents are insisting that he not do his best so as not to arouse suspicions, ala dash of the incredibles.

WIth a profile like Maples', I think the line between "effectively wild" and "control issues" is a fine one. Once he is "feared," I think major leaguers swing at those. But until he's proven that they could be strikes, there's no motivation to offer at them.

Paul Goldschmidt does not strike me as the type of player who loses all baseball talent in his early thirties. There are some players who baffle me. Guys who seemingly fall off a cliff in the middle of their prime years. Goldschmidt has always been great. A good batting eye doesn't go away with age and he seems like he's got the physicality to maintain his strengths without losing a step well into his mid 30's. I think he remains his usual productive self for the majority of this contract. Because of this, I'm upset he's on the Cardinals. If what you say is true, the answer is it makes them happy then. ETA: Although Cubs fans who now are cheering against the Cubs probably still hate the Cardinals, too. Hating the current state of the cubs, the pathetic offseason and the shortcomings of management, and recognizing that Cardinals are dirty birds that defecate in their children’s mouths and are awful, are not mutually exclusive.

Sounds like some flights I've been on. ? Because the plane crashed, or because you flew into Sanford instead of Orlando Int’l. Because I’ve done that and it was annoying. Especially since my rental car was paid for and waiting for me at Orlando Int’l.

It really is, it fundamentally changes things. LOOGY’s will become extinct. willy-wonka-stop-dont.gif To be clear. LOOGYs “fundamentally changed” baseball. This fundamentally changes them back. Let’s not pretend Babe Ruth and Ted Williams faced LOOGYs. I still (mildly) don’t like it. But to be fair, I’m 40 and I hate change and my daughter is now dating and I hate everything, especially change.

I have been here since 2003 and somehow missed all this. The price you pay for avoiding the social forum like the plague. But now it’s ALL social Forum. Can we get a baseball forum back? Also, I’m still confused with all the name changes, some of which are several years old. (TBS is IMB! ?)

Now think about what Russell is making Chatwood + Duensing + Descalso + Russell + Kintzler = $25.9M. That's 5 guys that will have pretty negligible value this year and you could still have Hamels. (BTW, I will cop to being all in favor of signing Chatwood, although it quickly became apparent over last offseason that the Cubs could have waited and signed him or someone very like him for quite a bit less.) I like this better because without Hamels you're still paying smyly 7 million. But when I say I like this better, be sure you understand that only means I hate it less, because I hate everything and always will beginning today.

If it is the giants, it theoretically gets them two decent players at a discount, adds to their farm AND keeps Harper out of LA. All theorectical though. Totally not happening.
