  1. Bowman just announced Huet is staying put, which presumably means no goalie deal and nothing substantial at all. The die is cast.
  2. You crack me up.
  3. One game proves everything, amirite?
  4. His pre-Hawks career disagrees.
  5. Huet is absolutely a starter in this league, and it's not close. There aren't two dozen better goalies in the league right now. He may not be the ideal starter for a Cup contender, and he may be overpaid, but he's definitely a No. 1 somewhere in the league.
  6. Well yes. I wanted an example and I picked one. I don't have any preexisting principles regarding choice of anecdotes, so any choice I made would have to be arbitrary. RDS, the French Canadian sports network, says Vokoun has waived his No Trade Clause only for Philadelphia and Chicago.
  7. I can't believe the general consensus is based on emotional overreaction. No way! The general consensus is still that RBIs are the best way to measure a power hitter, so the GC can go take a flying flip at the moon for all I care. Reading between the lines of the trade rumors, I don't see how we get a goalie upgrade. We can't do it without convincing a team to take Huet, and any goalie worth picking up can fetch just as good of a package from another team that doesn't involve taking on Huet.
  8. You guys are overreacting quite a bit. A cold goalie is maddening, but the Blackhawks are perfectly capable of winning the cup with Huet in goal. Niemi, probably, too.
  9. The tricky part is that you have to make sure that whatever interleague series you have going on makes sense within the travel schedule of the two teams.
  10. If the league leaders have six or seven third period comeback wins, how many multiple-goal comebacks do you think the best teams have? Two or three? The Blackhawks have at least one that I remember without even thinking that hard, so they can't be that far behind.
  11. Found it. The Blackhawks are third in the league in win percentage when trailing after two periods. "A 6-13-1 record when trailing after two periods for a .300 winning percentage, better than anybody else other than Washington's 6-8-3 (.353) and Vancouver's 7-15-1 (.304). The game's never over until it's over." http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/blackhawks-confidential/2010/02/take-your-blackhawks-semester-quiz-right-here--cheating-allowed.html
  12. Of course, it's not this year's team, but last year in the playoffs they did it repeatedly. How often do you think an ordinary team does it? Now compare that to the Blackhawks, who are behind a lot less often than most teams?
  13. the first 2 goals for NY were off TERRIBLE turnovers from seabrook and then johnsson and i've said this before, but i don't like how this team packs it in when they go down multiple goals. with the high scoring offense we have, you'd think they'd be able to come back from 2 or 3 down pretty easily,. but they don't. they fold. very concerning. I know this is just gamethread whinging and shouldn't be taken seriously, but come on. The Blackhawks are the best comeback team in the conference, easily.
  14. Tonight's was all goalies. These weren't 2-on-1s or bad giveaways, just perfectly ordinary shots that should have been saved going in.
  15. I don't see how Turco is better than Huet at this point in their careers.
  16. Versteeg, first-round pick, good prospect and convincing Florida to take Huet.
  17. Both our goalies hit cold streaks simultaneously.
  18. Their choice of Kane, Keith or Toews for Vokoun. Throw in Beach too.
  19. There are no blackouts in Gameday Audio. But that is not a free service. Or is it free for ST games? I don't know if it will be free for ST games or not, but a free service and blackouts are different things. You should have been more clear in your original post. He wasn't talking about Gameday Audio. WGN Radio broadcasts for free on the internet, but it is blacked out during Cubs games.
  20. Doesn't a 12-6 curve from a righty to a righty give the optical illusion of being a headhunter, even if it's not?
  21. It's not hard. Then try it. I did once, ten years ago. Send it to MLB and they might buy it. I think that's how they still do their schedule.
  22. It's not hard. Then try it.
  23. The MLB schedule is brutal to try to piece together anyway. I think you guys are underestimating how much harder the "15/15, 1 interleague series at all times" thing would be.
  24. Yeah, I did. Dreger is saying Toronto denied any chance of Huet going there.
  25. He threw both. His slurve became famous after the 20k game, but coming into the big leagues it was the straight up-and-down curve that scouts raved about.
