  1. I'd pay $1.5 million to have him play for anyone else.
  2. I'll take the over on 40% for his next 600 PAs, though as a previous post noted, he may not get that many. He's striking out because he can't hit anything but meatballs. All the pitch recognition in the world won't save that in the long run.
  3. Yeah, the walk rate. His pitch recognition is amazing right now. So if you could get an over/under on his BB rate at 13% for his next 600 PAs, at even money, you'd take the over?
  4. Unfortunately, that middle thing is kind of fickle and hard to maintain. He's very unlikely to keep doing it at his current rate. ...he says through gritted teeth and with a sweaty brow. He said with cool, complete confidence. 42% K 16% BB 28.6% HR/FB 18% XBH/BIP You guys can try to convince yourselves the slash line is exciting, but deep down we all know he's only capable of sustaining one of those stats.
  5. Unfortunately, that middle thing is kind of fickle and hard to maintain. He's very unlikely to keep doing it at his current rate.
  6. In order of long-term offensive ability, I'd rank them: Vitters Sappelt Jackson Stewart
  7. Still can't hit.
  8. Roughly 20% of all actions taken worldwide are for that purpose. I have far-reaching effects.
  9. Still not budging.
  10. "K-rate under 30% in AAA" isn't some kind of badge of honor. It was a deeply significant concern at that rate, too.
  11. Yes. But if he were capable of K-ing 33% of the time at the MLB level, I doubt he'd have done it 34% of the time in the PCL.
  12. You are easily entertained.
  13. It'd be awesome to be wrong about this.
  14. 600 PAs 240 Ks 60 BB 15 HR 285 BIP At a .333 BABIP, that comes to something like 203/283/342
  15. It irks me how much style points credit he gets from stathead fans. It's like if he were a pitcher who a tall, perfect pitcher's frame, plus command, plus movement on his breaking stuff, and everybody wanted to hope that with coaching he could improve his 75-mph, perfectly straight fastball. He can't hit. All the other stuff is nice, but he can't hit and that's that. I mean, we might as well keep giving him chances for the rest of the year, but I'm perfectly ready to cut bait with him this offseason.
  16. Yeah, all I got out of that post was "He's the worst player in the league at actually hitting baseballs but we can probably work around that."
  17. Brett Jackson is a wash-out who can't hit. It'll take a lot to change my mind on that one. huh, i thought for sure his .263/.440/.684 week would have blown the weather vane of your tenuous opinions in the complete other direction On the other hand, I'm completely unsurprised that your enthusiasm for peripherals has waned the moment they stopped supporting a player you are excited about who has a borderline acceptable slash line.
  18. He struck out 34% of the time in AAA and 43% of the time in the majors so far. This is not some minor flaw to be papered over. The BA and OBP have settled in about where they probably will long-term. All he has to do is keep hitting HRs in 25% of his FBs and we're golden for a league-average OPS.
  19. Plus a lot of Ks and lower BA/OBP.
  20. The problem is that I'm not convinced that the transition from "The low minors look awesome" to "the majors look awesome" is as easy, likely or quick as fans and possibly this organization hopes.
  21. Brett Jackson is a wash-out who can't hit. It'll take a lot to change my mind on that one.
  22. Sustainable, too!
  23. Stupid Dodgers. They are never going to have a winning team if they keep acquiring good baseball players.
  24. drose Sure but that took a decade. And then he blew out his knee and became ordinary without ever winning a title.
