  1. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 9m Cubs OF Nate Schierholtz could be available via trade, as a result of Ryan Kalish's progress. LH bat, unknown if he is a fit for Detroit. Well OK then.
  2. Going to contribute what? A 40% K-rate?
  3. Another infield single will do it for me. I'm easy to please. Ground ball single that went all the way to the outfield. Olt is gold!
  4. Another infield single will do it for me. I'm easy to please.
  5. I don't think that's right. Gamecast just does that sometimes in the spring.
  6. Olt through 16 spring PAs: .188/188/375 with a 44% K-rate and no walks.
  7. Infield single for Olt. I was really close to jumping off the bandwagon for a minute there.
  8. Anyone have any idea when the various rounds of cuts are expected to happen?
  9. Olt's in the starting lineup again. He's seeing enough time that they're definitely giving him a chance now.
  10. He's toast for making the team. Olt 0-for-4 with 2 Ks today. Vizcaino 1 IP, 0 R, 2 K
  11. Hochevar to have TJS.
  12. It's not exactly definitive or anything, but every time I've noticed Villanueva this spring it's been him botching or nearly botching a play in the field. So like a total of three times.
  13. Olt 0-for-2 with a K. Everyone back off the bandwagon.
  14. That's a pretty awful question.
  15. I'm more amazed by how clearly he can see the ball.
  16. Nothing Olt has done or had written about him has changed my mind to date. I'll start getting excited when the Cubs start giving indications he'll be the Opening Day 3b, either by saying he's in the mix or when he starts getting starts there more often than Valbuena or Murphy late in the spring.
  17. does this make Kyle feel better that he was in the OF? It's over. He's as good as DFA'd
  18. It never happened. The 1984 NLCS was always going to be two games at the NL East team and then three games at the NL West team. That's the way they rotated it back then. There was talk at a few points around there of the Cubs potentially losing a WS home game or losing home games in future playoffs, and over the years that's become conflated and created a myth that the Cubs lost a home game in the 1984 NLCS, but they didn't.
  19. Now that totally sounds like the kind of move we make at the deadline.
  20. Probably because their goalie has like a .980 SV% against us this year.
  21. I only saw the first period, but the Blackhawks looked perfectly dominant. And I see they outshot Colorado 38-20. They're fine, it's just variance. Last year we were a great team that got awfully lucky on top of things. This year, we haven't had the same luck but we're still playing darn well. They look better than they did during the 2-8-1 stretch in 2010 or whatever it was. I'm not promising they'll get out of the first round, just because the division is super stacked, but they're fine in terms of quality. They're one of the best few teams in the league.
  22. Regardless, I don't think there's anyway they can accurately be described as cheap in the draft. They didn't go balls-to-the-wall overslotting every single year, but they weren't cheap.
  23. They also had a lot of high first-round picks, which are where the bulk of draft spending happens.
