    I dunno, I thought it was implied. When someone says "K rate" about a pitcher, they almost always mean K/9.

    Yeah, but that was in part because his K rate was being inflated by facing 8 batters per inning or whatever. Wait, how does your K rate get inflated by facing more batters? K is generally reported as K/9 rather than K%. You can have vastly different K% and end up with the same K/9

    All college hitters in short season ball hit 5 HRs in their first 24 PAs. We would have been disappointed at anything less. it just reminds kyle that he didnt hit 6 If we'd paid him more money, he would have.

    That's been pretty obvious for at least 6 months now, although there's still a chunk of the fanbase in denial. I see what you're saying, but I also can't imagine them going into next year with a $50-60 million dollar payroll, either. I think they'll look to poach this offseason anything youngish with long-term value that they can. But they'll be buying with an eye toward the 2016 season and the knowledge that they can afford to wait until that offseason, even if it's not ideal.

    Why do soccer folk insist on referring to singular countries in the plural? It kind of bugs the crap out of me. It's grammatically correct to do so. Only if you are currently posting from the United Kingdom.

    Very important. His size and athleticism allowed him to be the target of long passes from the midfield. Without that, the other team can pressure the ball in the midfield with impunity because they aren't scared of getting beat with one quick ball over the top. It's like if the only deep threat wide receiver got hurt and now the defense can bring a safety into the box and jam the receivers with no fear of getting beat.
