  1. Mostly just fields, tbh
  2. Virtually a first for Moore, a second for claypool, a third for valus and a fourth for Scott. That's a lot for just two drafts
  3. WR looking like a decent bet to be the "position we mysteriously ignore" for the second time in three offseasons. I know we will get one in the draft, quite possibly at 9, but we've invested a ton in the position the last few years to be this thin
  4. Backup jobs still open that might make some sense: Indy, New Orleans, NYJ
  5. Jameis Winston to the browns
  6. You don't publicly talk about your hope to trade him by free agency if you plan to keep him. We have a blueprint for how poles acts when he is keeping fields and trading the pick: literally last year. There's also the report that the new offensive coordinator hasn't worked with fields in any capacity so far
  7. Then he's handled it incredibly poorly with his comments.
  8. Brissett to the Patriots to keep the seat warm for whoever they draft.
  9. Don't do this to yourself
  10. Darnold to Vikings is done. Which is certainly... a choice by them. Presumably they hope to draft someone and he's their Glennon. I believe Denver is the only team without a QB1
  11. And I told everyone I didn't even want to go to prom.
  12. This is going to be one of those things where you are reacting to your feelings about what I said and nothing I actually said. I don't think he has a positive impact on the Bears roster in 2024, but I never said he wouldn't have any value to any roster in 2024. 2022 - I don't think Fields is a starting quality NFL QB 2023 - I don't think Fields is a starting quality NFL QB 2024 - I don't think Fields is a starting quality NFL QB The opinion hasn't changed. The reactions to it sure have. We're doing the "you're an idiot/troll for even suggesting it" to "well it's not so much that you said it, it's how you said it" to "everyone always agreed with it" pipeline yet again. I cannot emphasize enough how amusing it is that "Justin Fields can get an NFL roster spot and a 4th-round pick from someone" is now considered a sufficiently optimistic sentiment that I'm accused of covering my tracks by stating it.
  13. I've never seen quite a swing like I've seen on Bears reddit the last few months. My opinion hasn't changed, but I've gone from a troll-doomer-idiot for doubting fields to being on the more optimistic side for my belief that we can probably get a 4th for him and he's useful as a backup/weak half of a competition. I'm not tuned into the larger Bears fanbase, I think there's still some pockets of Fields Trutherism, but that Packers game changed the vibe entirely where I've seen.
  14. I still think Fields will go somewhere for a third or a fourth. That's a pretty reasonable price for a strong backup with a cheap cap hit.
  15. That leaves Minnesota and Denver as not having starters or a top 3 pick
  16. I'm not even sure fields would want to stay in that scenario
  17. The funniest thing ever would be a reunion with Getsy in LV and they both ball out
  18. I just don't understand why I should want it to happen? I'm sure the clubhouse could be made to fall in line. But what's there to gain? I'd rather have a savvy vet in the QB room backing up
  19. Someone will trade for him eventually. It just won't be for much and it will be as a backup
  20. "bears would be sticking with fields if we didn't have the no. 1 pick. Fields is an ok starter, this is just too good an opportunity" was always more about trying to create an olive branch than actual truth
  21. Cousins is going to the falcons because Fields never had much trade value. The remaining teams that need starting QBs that aren't drafting top 3 are Denver, Minnesota, Las Vegas. Sean Payton just cut Russell Wilson because he couldn't throw quick hits over the middle of the field So unless Minnesota likes what they've seen from fields or Getsy really wants a return, fields will be a backup in 2024
  22. I kinda think Pittsburgh trade helps with trading fields? I thought there was a real chance they stuck with Pickett. Minnesota, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Denver are still looking and currently outside of top-3 in the draft and there's only one cousins. They could try to draft one of the second-tier guys but there's competition for them (teams like NYG, NO, Seattle) so they aren't guaranteed. There's reasons why all four shouldn't want him (scheme fit, Getsy reunion) but who knows.
  23. It's been a long process for three years of being in denial for Bears fans, always blaming everyone else, because sports are supposed to be fun and it's more fun to believe in a guy like Justin Fields. Fortunately, Williams will also be fun to root for.
  24. FWIW, Mac Jones has a higher career passer rating and ANY/A than Justin Fields. Fields was better in 2023, but Jones was better their other two years.
  25. I don't think it's that hard to see what's happening. 90% of the time, these reports don't contradict each other. Fans have poor media literacy and don't really follow the nuance of what's being reported. Schefter goes on the radio and says "I could see Pittsburgh being interested in Fields. Tomlin liked him in the past." Not long after, we get reports from local Pittsburgh beat reporters that the Steelers aren't interested in Fields. Those reports do not contradict each other, but I've seen a lot of people say they did. There's some degree of smokescreening, but this stuff isn't as cloak and dagger as everyone acts. Most of the stuff that happens is pretty telegraphed. What's going on right now is that there's not a single team that sees Fields as a first-choice starting QB and thus there's no incentive for them to trade for him until the rest of it shakes out. The Bears were hoping to trade him before the deadline but they overestimated the market's appetite for him. They will trade him eventually when the starting QB musical chairs is over and teams start looking for backups and competition.
