It's the same team we've been seeing for years. A lot of talent in some parts, fatal flaws in others, a bit beat up, destined to get our hopes up 10 times per year but ultimately win 8-10 games and somehow lose the tiebreaker.
You can't call that a mis-read route, I don't think. There wasn't any receiver anywhere in the remote vicinity that could have conceivably run a different route to get to that ball.
It looked like an AI glitch. His man was wide open in the flat and right as the ball was thrown, he suddenly decided he needed to turn around and run 10 yards backwards to double-team another guy.
I'm hopeful our defense can bounce back. They're getting beat on simple stuff that doesn't seem like it should beat an NFL defense all day. And right as I say that, 20 yards on a slant.
I think it is ok value-wise, but I am certainly not giving up an asset for a 3B at this point. I would. Bryant might be an outfielder and Baez might have terminal brettjacksonitis.
I wasn't insulted, it was funny. I just remember him being one of the young up-and-coming guys, having worked with Epstein and O'Dowd, and I checked Baseball-Reference to make sure he still ran the Padres this year.
You mean the guy who got fired from that job, immediately took a position on MLB Network, and within a couple weeks of his new job had to answer awkward questions on air like "Why do you think San Diego's front office situation is such a mess right now?" Dang. Good thing I didn't put him on the real list or nobody would take me seriously... Imagine if his replacement was Duane Underwood. I can never remember which one is dan o'dowd and which one is Dave dombrowski.

I trust those guys to know what they are talking about, but it always sounded kind of hokey to me. Having two completely different swings like that seems like a good way to screw up your timing and miss even more often.
