  1. We won tonight, I hear. I honestly wasn't paying attention. Hooray.
  2. Guesses as to what date the Cubs fall below .500?
  3. Is there somewhere that lists that stat? http://www.naturalstattrick.com/game.php?season=20142015&game=30411 I believe this is it CF- CA? Correct. Corsi is all shot attempts (On goal, blocked and missed the net), and that stands for Corsi For and Corsi Against. Fenwick is the same thing except shots blocked by non-goalie defenders are taken out, and that's FF and FA. Both stats correlate very, very highly with long-term success.
  4. Both goals were just sniped. They were shots that if they were two inches the other way (You listening, Gordon Bombay?) we'd be annoyed with them for trying to be too perfect instead of just making sure they hit the net. Not a complaint, just an observation on why I prefer shot attempts to SOG as a stat.
  5. I think I've seen at least a dozen "Next Blackhawks" since 2010, and now it's spreading to other sports...
  6. Death spiral in progress. At least Hawks are about to win the Cup again.
  7. lol this team Tampa knew the Hawks like to start out road games playing it uber-safe, so they just flooded the boards and picked up free pucks. Once the Hawks adjusted to that, play was even at worst.
  8. I would assume if their bottom two lines grade out terribly, then their top two lines grade out pretty darn good.
  9. You may well be right. But they had a better goal differential in the regular season, CORSI loves them, and we've had trouble with teams that can match our speed. I don't think this is going to be near as easy as many Hawks fans and outside observers do.
  10. I'm not nervous at all because the worst case scenario is we have to be stuck on 2 Cups, 15 playoff series wins and 3 conference championships in a 7-year span.
  11. They take a big break once a year and don't come back for like five months or whatever. That seems like a good place to start counting at any given time.
  12. Arbitrary endpoint stats are the worst of all possible stats. They're worse than wins and RBIs.
  13. Well, good thing we've got our magic orb that tells us which marginal players will turn in really bad performances in any given two months, so there's no chance of having any bad players again.
  14. I don't see Baez having that much OBP, or Soler having that much power, but otherwise I can see those.
  15. At the rate Soler (and his .383 BABIP) have been accumulating WAR this year, we *might* notice a loss of one run downgrading from Soler to Szczur for two weeks.
  16. Ended up flipping through various Blackhawks highlights on Youtube today, realized something I hadn't thought about: Timonen was the guy Kane beat to get the shot on Leighton that won the Cup in 2010.
  17. Replay shows out. His arm like stuck in the dirt or something before touching the plate.
  18. Id rather play a Tampa finesse team than a big bruising 2010 Flyer or 2013 Bruin team Have we *ever* lost to a bruising team in the playoffs during this run? Vancouver and LA were uberteams like us, and Phoneix just got insanely lucky.
  19. i lok forard to kyles reponse I said I didn't see how they'd win game 5. They didn't win game 5. I'm amazing.
  20. Weird. Why does it seem like we never reschedule rained out games as a doubleheader the next day? I mean that's fine, a DH is more taxing and might require a Wood or Jaxon start, just seems like other teams do this all the time especially between teams that won't play again after the series PTR
