Jim Hendry was a bad overall GM. He had a few good signings, a couple really good trades, but his overall grade as a GM is probably a C. Any GM with a Chicago budget can put together a short run of success, but it's something else if you can produce sustainable success - Cardinals, Giants, Red Sox, Yankees. Do the Giants really have more sustained success than the Hendry Cubs? They made it through the playoff crap shoot the last three times they got there, but that was their only three appearances in the last 11 seasons.
