  2. I'm preaching to the choir here, but I can't believe how much of the general football world (fans and punditry) don't realize that the Bears are going to be good this year. They had a lot of good pieces in place that were overshadowed by some of the worst lineup black holes I've ever seen at the NFL level, which allowed teams to gameplan to account for the good players too easily. That's not the same as having no good players. There's gonna be a lot of "breakout" years for guys now that the entire 22 is competent enough to be accounted for. God I cannot wait to see what the rest of this defense can do when Mack is commanding a double-team at all times and they're playing with a lead.
  3. I'm pretty sure I could have spelled it during Peak Rebuild a few years ago when the minor league forums got the most activity and everything was about top-100 rankings and whatever. Now the actual Cubs have been awesome for four years and that Alzolay dude is the only Cubs prospect I can name off the top of my head.
  4. He doesn't have to be, but he is pretty good. He got better consistently throughout the year last year. The stat line doesn't look great, but it was an impossible situation to put up stats. The receiving group wasn't even replacement-level by NFL standards and the team was constantly having to pass in trailing situations when defenses are set up for the pass. I thought by the end of the year, he was making good decisions and accurate, NFL-quality throws. I'm comfortable considering him at least an average QB going into the year and possibly better.
  5. I'm pretty sure the turnover problem will be solved. Lack of consistent QB pressure was at the root of all that.
  6. Unless we are predicting how a player will perform with little NFL experience We had an entire season to watch him.
  7. "Unproven" is such a weird thing. Either he's good or he isn't. What he's proven won't matter.
  8. I think this is the most effective tactic in the NFL today: get your QB in the draft, give him a year to adjust, then go all-in for his rookie contract years when the cap works in your favor. Damn we are all-in now.
  9. Oh god that video could not possibly have gotten me more hyped for this season.
  10. I‘m excited for the all-in approach to Trubinsky’s rookie contract years. But dang that is a lot for a 27 year old with four years of wear and tear on him.
  11. That would have been a killer move three years ago. Now, he's a guy, I guess.
  12. It's not hard to keep up. Irrational swagger when the Cubs are playing well, doom boners when they aren't. 7-1 stretch, so swagger it is. Cold, rational analysis is boring and if you like it then you like cops.
  13. It's 2018 and I'm relieved that the Hitler reference, however wildly incorrect and inappropriate, wasn't positive.
  14. Chatwood looks dumb for jumping the market and being just flat wrong on the player evaluation. Darvish doesn't bother me because there are no non-volatile free agents. That money either gets spent on guys who might blow up or it just sits there, so if they blow up, they blow up.
  15. Jeremy Bonderman on the younger end.
  16. Negativity always works! http://crookedtimber.org/2010/09/28/mean-and-regressive/ Even Israeli flight instructors agree it works.
  17. You're welcome for getting on them about their terrible play for a month there. We fixed them!
  18. IIRC, they mostly talk about how much they hate gay people and occasionally why W-L and ERA are the ultimate SP stats.
  19. Peaking too soon, can’t win in playoffs.
  20. Big improvement over the last one.
  21. So the season was saved by *checks notes* David Murphy, Cole Hamels and David Bote. Interesting.
