  1. You know, unless: 1) they move salary to pull it off 2) Darvish is healthy and producing as expected Any plan that requires a 30-something pitcher with a history of arm problems to pull off is a bad plan. This would have been an utterly uncontroversial statement a year ago when we all just knew there was no way Darvish would impact our ability to sign Harper at all.
  2. If we really need to move salary to pull this off, signing Darcish was a franchise-changing mistake
  3. I love Gritty so, so much
  4. You'll be back. And you. And you. And youuuuu.
  5. Harris was absolutely the lynchpin of that defense.
  6. We swallowed our pride with Chapman, we're gonna swallow it with this too.
  7. Everything about this offseason is the worst.
  8. You 100% play it straight if you’re still alive for the bye.
  9. You’re thinking of “how many functional shoulders does he have”
  10. I keep wanting to look at capfriendly and figure out who to move in a fire sale and who can stay. 1) I don't want to move Kane or Toews, even if neither of them is an ideal use of 13% of your cap. 2) The Seabrook contract is so LOLbad and even when it was being signed we knew it was LOLbad but we were signing everyone so why not? 3) I think you'll move Keith someday, but not today. In a couple of years the gap between the cap hit and the salary will make him appealing to a salary floor team. But I think there's a path to a quick reload for one last shot in 2019-2021. It starts with trading Crawford at the deadline and going back to the old plan of cheap goalies. Tank *hard* the rest of the way. Then hit big in the draft lottery. Either Hughes or Kakko. Hope they can contribute immediately. That should leave you with enough cap space to bring in three serious additions in the offseason (Panarin seems like a popular pick) and you go stars and scrubs with the roster.
  11. Can we even afford him?
  12. Baseball offseasons are the stupidest offseasons in sports.
  13. Not to mention we were two game 7s away from tanking going ringless and the never-tankers winning both years.
  14. Do it, but also teams have full freedom of movement. New York gets its own division.
  15. It's been a disappointing year, but I'm glad the Cubs are still good enough I don't have have to care about this.
  16. I made it anonymous and wasn’t trying to pin it on anyone. Iirc, it was something that made me sound like a concerned newspaper reader of Oklahoma. I was surprised he blamed it on someone else, he seemed so sure. was it just a coincidence that it came the same day i was fighting with that socialist bastard in the game of thrones tv thread because he kept trying to low-key post spoilers? that's why i assumed it was him. You know, I was remembering it as a coincidence but now that you mention that, maybe it wasn’t.

  18. He who smelt it, dealt it. Nah, but this is as good a time as any to confess that I was the one who got mad at IMB for some dumb reason and tried to send him GOT spoilers at his work e-mail. I think he blamed Sully.
  19. It'd be funnier if it were IMB. Wittier. Tree makes sense.
  20. Obviously Willson Traymor is one of us. But which one?
  21. Oh god the "centrists" are here. Now I hope Bryce Harper goes to the Brewers except they loan him out to the Cardinals whenever they're playing us.
  22. Counterpoint: bring back guillotines and run the Cubs as a people’s collective
