rest didn't help all that much last year i'm far from some doom boner alarmist, but there is a non-zero chance that he is permanently broken or at least that the ceiling on his production dropped significantly. and i feel like calling it non-zero might be underselling it. As the original doom boner, I would like to say that he is 100% broken. Unless he is good, in which case he is never re-signing with us because of the service time thing.

In order: Anthony Rizzo is the least baller-capable star we have on the team. Being baller requires a minimum face to head ratio that he can never hope to see. There have actually only been two legitimately baller moments in the entire Epstein era. And one of them from a player he didn't even acquire. 1) Javy's walk-off, knee-drop HR in AA 2) Schwarber personally ending the Pirates franchise's entire flirtation with relevance. Everything else has been a range from lame to p cool, but not baller. I will accept no debate or suggestions.

I'm not saying all the owners got together and hatched a plan to restrict money to players. They didn't have to; they filtered the membership in their special club so that everyone was on the same page to begin with. That may not be the strictest definition of collusion, but I'm okay with the term being used. I am 100% saying they had a meeting and agreed which teams would go after machado and Harper and the others wouldn’t.
