  1. Gallagher has a "holding runners" problem.
  2. The calm down people have been right a lot more often than the "sky is falling" people, who seem to appear every single game.
  3. Can you blame them? This game is looking identical to last night. Chacon should not have gotten settled in like this. He's a bad pitcher. It reminds me a lot of the gamethread in the 19-5 game, to be honest.
  4. Fortunately for Kosuke, three wrong turns can turn into a right one.
  5. That's fine, but our offense has still got to capitalize on chumps like this. They are on pace for 7 runs.
  6. Edmonds with a 330 foot fly ball that the park makes look exciting.
  7. In more than 50% of baseball games, the winning team scores more runs in one inning than the other team does in the entire game. We're in good shape for that.
  8. You serious? It was a belt high fastball right down the middle that was scorched. It would have been a basehit up the middle anyways. DeRosa was positioned perfectly to get that one if it got through. Moreover, if Gallagher picked that, that likely would have been 2. Then it would have been a lucky out if they'd gotten it. When you hit a ball that hard, you've earned your hit.
  9. That ball was crushed. I wouldn't call it cheap.
  10. Ball smoked up the middle, might have been a DP but it caroms off of Gallagher's leg into short right field.
  11. They've had some hard hit outs and some flukey hits. I'd say overall contact has been average.
  12. Alright, that runner on third is conceded. Get out of this with a 3-1 lead and I'll be happy.
  13. Good for them. I hope they make it to .500, I feel bad for their fans.
  14. He's trying to get his grit points back. Does arguing earn grit points? Can we get a ruling? If you are already gritty, yes. They multiply your current grit level, so if it is already negative (like when Alfonseca and Alou argued), it hurts. But it helps Theriot. I don't know if it gets less gritty than Antonio Alfonseca Losing a finger makes you gritty. Adding one is just pathetic. Okay, I'm a little embarassed at myself for contributing to the "Any Alfonseca reference must have a finger joke" mentalityi...
  15. Very nice inning from Gallagher. The breaking stuff looked sharp.

  17. There's the out pitch I've been looking for from Gallagher. Very nice slider.
  18. Yep, dead to rights. Why on earth did he argue?
  19. Does that count as a CS? Does the quest for the record resume?
  20. How often do you see it? Guy almost botches a play to end the inning, makes a nice save, then gets a two-out, bases-empty hit the next inning.
  21. DeRosa flies to deepish right center. Not particularly close, but might have been a basket shot at Wrigley.
  22. If he had taken three steps and face-planted on purpose into the seats, it'd be an all-time highlight. Or does that only work for Jeter?
  23. Very hard liner right at him. He's playing shallow, runs in a few steps, realizes it's about to go over his head and makes a kind of awkward jumping catch. Big play from Theriot!
  24. Punting outfield defense is a good way to build a losing team. Not that I like Edmonds or Johnson any more than anyone. Key K for Gallagher!
