  1. Pitcher finally noticed that Theriot was gonna swing at ball four repeatedly, so he threw him one in the dirt.
  2. 20 WP+PB is second worst in the league, soto. Pick it up.
  3. Between him and Edmonds, I'm beginning to wonder if this is all just a part of Tony LaRussa's master plan to bring the Cubs down from the inside. Normally, a person implementing such a plan would make sure that the players in question were awesome before coming to the Cubs. LaRussa knew Hendry was too smart for that, and made sure they were horrible even before the Cubs signed them. Even Hendry's genius would never see their continued suckage coming.
  4. If Wrigley was 340 feet to straight left and right, Soriano's night would rock.
  5. What you never hit the ball to the outfield in the air again? Did you quit early? Another year after that. I was really, really, really bad.
  6. I'll only say this once tonight, but this goes for everyone out there: If you are outdoors and more than 10 feet from your target, flash is useless. Do not sit in the freaking stands and pop your flash off trying to take a picture. It does nothing.
  7. I guess Cedeno does to since he made an error the other night too. i liked the game thread the other day when someone sarcastically said "nice range theriot" after a ground ball through the infield, not realizing that cedeno was the offending party. Theriot would have caught it.
  8. Watching Marquis pitch against the Rockies lineup reminds me of a little league story. I was 8 or 9, I think, whatever the youngest age they let you play against live pitching is. I was horrible and had sat the bench all season, outside of my obligatory inning (preferably, in the coach's mind, used when I had little chance to bat). We faced some kid who soft-tossed but had decent control and he befuddled our entire lineup, while I begged the coach to let me hit because I figured this kid threw my speed. I didn't get to bat that game, but we faced them in the playoffs and I blooped a double to right, the only time in my life I hit a ball to the outfield on the fly in competitive play.
  9. Theriot's defense and baserunning almost makes me sad that he can hit better than I thought.
  10. Soriano's range came back after he Brant Browned.
  11. If your CFers suck, find some that don't. Fielding 3 corner outfielders is bad, bad, bad.
  12. Yea, he never hits singles or anything Hitting singles isn't a trick :)
  13. An 81-game season, for one.
  14. Because Wrigley Field doesn't have a 395-foot left-center field wall?
  15. Fontenot splits the gap perfectly with a nifty little double. About time one of those wasn't right at Juan Pierre.
  16. Piniella is unaware of the fact that Reed Johnson sucks at baseball.
  17. :( I got all excited that we could win with a run, then I saw who was coming up to bat.
  18. The Yankees don't play their best SS at SS either. You wanna argue with all their rings? Neither Cedeno nor Theriot are good shortstops. Theriot has no range and Cedeno can't throw it to a 6-4 firstbaseman. Being error-prone is more frustrating than having no range or arm, but the latter will cost you more in the long run.
  19. I'd be pretty unhappy if a Cub was called out on that pitch in a key situation
