  1. I was waiting for people to tell me I was being a doom boner for saying Assad looked shaky in his 1-2-3 first inning.
  2. I wouldn't have brought assad out again. He had good movement but he seemed prone to leaving some out over the plate.
  3. Longest scoreless streak to start the season for the Brewers franchise.
  4. zone is expanding a bit as the game goes on. I don't mind it.
  5. Credit Hosmer with a glove hit. I didn't love Assad's locations, he might have gotten away a bit.
  6. What an at-bat. He got two *nasty* called strikes to go down 0-2 and from there did amazing.
  7. 6 innings is plenty for first start in this weather. Shake his hand and good luck to the pen. Steele did an amazing job of locating his fastball up. He got it up where he wanted without eve leaving it over the plate.
  8. We're in the sixth inning and it's not even 90 minutes since first pitch. I'll stop saying it every game eventually, but the pitch clock is the best thing to happen to baseball since steroids got good in the 90s.
  9. Hosmer tried to emphasize that a little too hard with a windmill.
  10. It was in the zone, but I can count on one hand how many times I've seen a catcher's glove move that much and get the call.
  11. No. Spring training means nothing. It means absolutely nothing. It's there for pitchers to warm their arms up and to extort a few extra bucks from gullible boomers. We all know this, but when we get bored in March waiting for the actual season people talk themselves out of it.
  12. Will the Cubs give up a run this series? I'm leaning toward no.
  13. Three shutouts on opening day in the last 5 years is kinda crazy. Infield defense was really good. That play Wisdom made in the first was probably the best one. Catcher couldn't catch, which is kind of a problem, but he got some value out of his framing. Stroman had some really good late, downward movement on his pitches.
  14. I remember being really jealous of Andruw Jones. A lot of us learned about advanced baseball in the 1990s when defense really was less relevant. In this run environment, it's more interesting.
  15. Boxberger befuddling hitters by throwing 88 mph pitches with no movement down the middle
  16. For a second I was wondering how we turned the lineup over without me noticing a pitcher AB.
  17. Pretty sure dansby's liner was the only ball either outfield has bad to go back on so far
