  1. I didn't even know he could hit from one side.
  2. Enough said!
  3. Crappy Ronny with a triple and an RBI :D Just wait until they get the book on him. /sarcasm.
  4. 2-0 lead over the Cardinals. This is sweet!
  5. Lee is 12 for 25 against Suppan with 2 HR and 4 doubles.
  6. Pierre is 3 for 10 career against Suppan.
  7. Pujols is 10 for 24 against Maddux with 3 HR.
  8. Good thing the Cards no longer have Ray King! If they had King and Ponson, there'd be no room in the clubhouse for anyone else, much less enough food on the postgame spread.
  9. yeah, i'm going w/ the astros...especially if clemens comes back. everyone rags on houston's offense, but, like you said, they have fewer glaring holes than the cubs and cards. heck, the brewers offense really only has one obvious hole. I disagree about the Astros offense. Berkman is the only real threat there. Biggio is getting older, Ensberg has been inconsistent from year to year, Wilson is no better than Jacque or Encarnacion, Lane is still a bit unproven, Taveras has little plate discipline, Ausmus can't hit, and Everett's only skill is the sac bunt.
  10. Eckstein has one hellova line against Maddux. 455/455/636 in 11 AB's. On the other hand, Eckstein is 3 for 13 this season and was 0-4 in his last game.
  11. Well, Baylor only embraced portions of small ball. He bunted and hit-and-run incessantly. But his teams were regularly near the bottom in steals (again, team composition had a lot to do with that, though). I was being exteme in my statements to make a point. But you are correct. Baylor's Cubs teams didn't steal much, but they sure gave away a lot of outs with sac bunts and hit and runs.
  12. Cubs hitters hit 500 with 3 HR's with runners in scoring position during the first two games.
  13. I think it is clear that the only thing Weaver and Baylor had in common was that both were managers of major league teams. Beyond that, the comparisons end. I'm seen nothing beyond vague anecdotal evidence to support any other ascertion. Weaver was the antithesis of winning with small ball. Baylor was the epitome of it.
  14. Maddux has 23 career victories against the Cardinals, third-most in major league history.
  15. Eric, What goals have you set for yourself this year? What things have the Cubs indicated they want you to work on?
  16. Pat, Hi. I'm from Monroe, Louisiana. Do you ever get back to Natchitoches much?
  17. Did you bring enough to share with the whole class ???? Hmmmm ???? No. But damn was it good!
