  1. If that's the case, then why come up with the underarm discomfort? Just flat out say that Woody didn't feel like pitching after his buddy died. If anyone slams him for that, they have issues. Concocting an arm injury story only fans the flames. the cubs media relations are truly horrible if this rumor is true. I don't know. I'm just reporting what I heard. I'm not saying there's any truth to it or not...even the source seemed somewhat skeptical.
  2. The option was wasted either way. An option exists for a year. When he was sent down out of spring training, the option was used. He can be sent up and down all year, and it only uses the same option.
  3. The hyperbole in this thread is mind-boggling.
  4. Winning is much more fun than losing. Let's do it again.
  5. Unnamed source says that there are whispers Wood may not be set back, but was too broken up over Acosta's death to take the hill. Take it with a grain of salt....
  6. It was nice. I don't know that I'm the best to give an overall view point as I had great seats for each game. The Redbird club seats were pricey, but nice. Extra room and cushions on the seat. Overall, I think they did a great job with the park. The fans sitting near or next to me were very courteous and friendly...of course that may be what to expect in those particular areas. I did endure some taunting after the game on Friday night, but nothing worse than what I experience in Houston. The staff at the stadium were very friendly and helpful, and I even made a point of seeking out a supervisor to say so. I like the openness of the outfield, but the one drawback is that in clear view are the parking garages. It would be nicer if something else were there instead. While not my favorite non-Wrigley park, I felt they did a great job. Of course, I was sitting in some premium areas.
  7. Vance, you are one lucky man. 8) I'm hoping the pic I took with Ronny comes out.
  8. I didn't read throught the whole thread, but in case it wasn't mention...Maddux has NEVER in his career started out 4-0. He's been amazing. I was directly on homeplate today...eventhough I was in the second level above the suites. It was great watching how Maddux worked each hitter. The first AB to Edmonds was great!
  9. Well....of the current 25-man roster, I got the following: Barrett, Walker, Hairston, Murton, Jones, Williams, Marshall, Maddux, Rusch, Eyre, Dempster, Aardsma, Novoa, Howry, Mabry, Restovich, Bynum and Baker. I also got a pic signed by Murton, Marshall, Hairston, and Williams. It was a good trip for autos. Neifi on the other hand...
  10. For those wondering, I had my wife post this while Garwilly was calling Fred.
  11. As was reported in the Game Thread, Garwilly and I noticed Guzman in the dugout and then noticed Williams was no where around. When Baker signed autographs by us, I asked him if Guzman was up. He said yes. Then I said, "Do you think he's ready to help us?" Baker responded, "We need him to be. Our bullpen is used up." So I asked, "Oh, he's going to be used out of the pen?" Baker said yeah....we need an arm. Baker made no comment about who would start on Wednesday. I spoke with Santo after the game as he was exiting the booth through the Redbird Club. Supposedly, no one knows who Wednesday's starter will be. If Guzman isn't used out of the pen, then he could get the start.
  12. I'd do that in a heartbeat, though I don't know Johnson's contract situation, and where would he play come late-June? Knowing Johnson's history, he'll likely get hurt around late June so it really isn't a problem.
  13. Well, I'm dressed and ready for today's game. I'd like one win before I fly home. I'll try to say good morning to Mr. Miles for everyone.
  14. Gee such creative nick names you have.
  15. That's a lie. I did a simulated start yesterday.
  16. That would be the dumbest reason ever to sign him. OMG HE KILLS THE WHITE SOX FOR 6 GAMES A YEAR!!!! Excatly. He should've stayed in Minnesota where he can kill them 18 times a year I don't think Minnesota had any interest in keeping him. I think I know why too.
  17. Because it's immoral and baseball should be a "Family Environment." If you have hot girls and alcohol...that's like a strip club....like the NFL and NBA. ;)
  18. When I was single, I still went to games to watch the games but if a hot girl was sitting close-by...it doesn't mean I didn't hit on her. It's called multi-tasking. Try it sometime. :D
  19. BTW..hot chicks were in the party room and I couldn't flirt at all since I was there with my father-in-law. Suckage all around!
  20. Just win one of these freaking games, please!
  21. Well yeah, Clemens has been a total hermit all through the baseball season. He's been all over the place here in Houston. That's what most people don't understand. He's just opened a new sports bar here, he's part owner of another place that's about to open, he's all over the local car dealer's advertisements, he's spotted around town all the time, the guy's a God here and he has a very big vested interest in keeping the citizens of Houston in his corner and patronizing his establishments. Couple that with the fact that his family lives here and the 'stros have started out well w/o him, and I just don't see him going anywhere else. I DO think he'll use the other clubs to bid up the asking price and get McClane to open up the pocket book for him. You know, opening new businesses could be a sign he's moving on to life after baseball and isn't interested in playing any more. Just a thought....
  22. You're an idiot. Despite Sammy's disposition for "enhancing" his performance, he didn't hit it over the socreboard. The CF wall is 400 feet. NO WAY is the tiptop of the scorebard 465, not to metion the trajectory of hitting it that much higher. It would take a shot much longer than 465 to clear it. Nobody's every hit it over the scoreboard. That's not necessary.
