I would, which is crazy. Spend a few years in Chicago and then we'll talk. Give me a break. The success of the Cubs is priority 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. It doesn't matter who a trade is with, if it makes the Cubs better we should do it. At no point should it EVER be of concern how much flak the fans will take if the trade doesn't work out as planned. Thank-you. The only priority in a trade should be does it improve your team. Sometimes you're trying to impove for the future, sometimes for the present. You have to always balance those goals when trading prospects or young players for a current player. I think it is ok to worry about how the trade might improve weaknesses of a divisional foe since they will be the competition, but the primary (and only focus) should be is it a good trade for your team. If the scouts and team personel and those involved believe it is, then you make the trade. As far as trading partners, we should view the White Sox just as we would the Indians, Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, Twins, Mariners, Orioles or any other team from the other league.
