I really don't care if they win or not anymore. Winning is better than losing, but I realized this was a bizarre season once Prior returned but started pitching like Todd Van Poppell.
I missed this thread as I was out of town watching the Cubs suckitude reach epic proportions... but I's take Dunn over Lee any day and twice on Sundays. He has as much if not more power than Lee and makes fewer outs. As far as his fielding in left, I'm pretty sure it's no worse than Nevin's.
I still don't think you get a qualified manager mid-season, but a change would be nice just to begin the rebuilding. As I've said before, I'd dump everyone but Speier. I'd make him interim and then promote Joshua to hitting coach.
Tonight was the 5th time this year we've lost our 4th consecutive game. That's pitiful. It's the extended losing streaks over the last two seasons that seem to be the greatest evidence that Baker should go.
I'm not sure I want Hill in 2007 or not, but I'd sure like to give him more than a handful of starts spread out over two seasons to base that decision on.
But would a different manager have input on how the roster was constructed? Part of the reason I think Baker puts this team at a disadvantage is that the way he influences Hendry's decisions for roster construction. I don't excuse Hendry for allowing Baker to influence him, but I do think he has a great deal of influence.
1st batter hasn't even completed his AB yet for the Cubs  Two points...Do you actually think this line-up is capable of three runs? Secondly, do you really think that's all the Brewers will get off of Maddux?
We have the third worst record in all of baseball. We stink. While it is possible for the Cubs to play better, it's ridiculous to assume that the other teams in the league will play bad enough for the Cubs to pass them.
