  1. Smith has the numbers to back up the claim as greatest ever.
  2. I'll agree with the notion that this pick is a good gamble, but that the dollar amount was surprising. That's my assessment as well. It's a gamble, but one the Cubs could probably afford to make.
  3. Payton finishes behind Smith in all the major categories such as most rushing yards, most rushing TD's, most yards from scrimmage by a RB. Smith is the greatest!
  4. A friend sent me this tonight. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
  5. Way for them to pick the minority view from around here!
  6. We still have at least one more loss before our next win. They'll be nothing noteworthy in this game.
  7. I'm still holding out hope for Scott Moore.
  8. His AAA performance easily surpasses Guzman and Marmol who have surpassed him in the Cubs plans. What would be the harm in slotting him in the rotation from now until September just to see how he handles an elongated look. My guess is he'd perform at least as well as Marshall has this season. At this point I can't see the logic of letting Marmol struggle in the rotation when he could use the AAA experience and letting Hill dominate at AAA when he could be getting an extended look at the big league level. They should set the rotation with Z, Prior, Maddux, Marshall, Hill and just leave it that way unless someone gets hurt or traded. Let Marmol, Guzman, and Ryu get innings at AAA. That's an excellent plan that I could be fully behind. I'd also try to trade Maddux ASAP to open up a spot for Guzman or Marmol.
  9. According to Will Carroll, the Cubs may 'cut bait' on Miller soon. I would. He's not needed and the last thing we need to do is let him take away innings that could be better spent letting a pitcher like Guzman or Hill pitch in the majors.
  10. Bill Hall is also a free agent after the season. Why we would want him considering that is beyond me though. Well, they would need a second baseman considering Walker is most likely gone next season. Unless Neifi is going to be full time. He also can play SS and 3b, so he is versatile if injuries occur. But, ultimately he is an upgrade at second base for the Cubs. He provides some power the Cubs could use. They would just need to make it a point to re sign him for next season. Granted, it would depend on how much/how long he is looking for in terms of his contract. I don't think the point is that the Cubs couldn't use him, but it's foolish to trade for a player that you still have to re-sign. It's best just to go out and get him in the offseason and instead trade for a player who will be under team control for a few more years.
  11. I might have voted the Beastie Boys in every poll! Maybe we should do one of these for other genres as well. And then pair the champion of all genres in a best of the best poll.
  12. You just named half the bands in my album collection...lol.
  13. Bill Hall is also a free agent after the season. Why we would want him considering that is beyond me though. Those were my thoughts as well. We can just sign Hall as a FA in the offseason. I'd ask for Hart or Gallardo.
  14. According to Darin Sutton, the Brewers have inquired as to Maddux's availability.
  15. According to Darin Sutton on the Milawukee broadcast, the Brewers have asked the Cubs if Maddux is available.
  16. Unfortunately, this post could be speaking the truth. While it is hard for me to ever root against the Cubs, losing may be the best thing to awaken management that changes need to be made.
  17. I might sabatoge all other polls involving Floyd just because of the screwing Motley Crue is getting here.
  18. If you have lots of time, read through the thread from WSI I posted a link to.
  19. How do we know he wasn't interested in the OF? I heard he was quite open to playing in the OF.
  20. Well, when a poster at WSI pays his employees to cast votes, what can you do?
  21. I can think of a few bands that I'll vote over the Beatles.
  22. STOP THAT :x Just went to the coke machine and got a Fanta.
  23. With all the turnover in baseball if Davey Johnson was a premeier manger I'm pretty sure we hear his name more often I think there's some reasonss he's not in baseball right now. Davey isn't in baseball because he's a very abrasive person and rubs people the wrong way. He's a good manager, but FO types don't like him. I'm not sure of all the details, but he's been on the outs more for his personality rather than his abilities.
