  1. Lance Broadway and Brandon McCarthy and I'd gladly do it. OML... I'd trade Maddux to the Sox for either of the above. Actually, I'd give them Maddux, Pierre and Williamson for McCarthy. We're not going anywhere and McCarthy slides nicely into the rotation for the next few years. How about Mad Dog Pierre and Willamson for both of them, and then send McCarthy to AAA. I don't want the Cubs staff messing with him. Kenny Williams is not a complete idiot. I doubt he sends both Broadway and McCarthy for Maddux, Pierre, and Williamson. The White Sox really don't need Maddux. I'd do Howry for McCarthy and throw in Pierre if necessary and ask for Anderson added to the package.
  2. I don't want Piniella and hopefully Hendry won't jones for him like he did Baker. Fredi Gonzalez would be a better choice and he would come at a much reduced price. If Jimmy Boy is going to open the wallet to attract a premeier manager, then he should call Davey Johnson.
  3. His AAA performance easily surpasses Guzman and Marmol who have surpassed him in the Cubs plans. What would be the harm in slotting him in the rotation from now until September just to see how he handles an elongated look. My guess is he'd perform at least as well as Marshall has this season.
  4. After winning last night, the Cubs are due at least two more losses. Find something else to do than watch the Cubs tonight.
  5. Hill absolutely should be starting in Chicago. They way he has been handled by this organization is a travesty.
  6. Reports are the Mavericks have agreed to trade Daniels to the Pacers for Crochere.
  7. While there are worse choices than Brenly, there are also much better choices as well.
  8. I buy Coke. In fact, I refer to all soft drinks as a coke.
  9. I wouldn't argue with that. But LSU has way too many injury questions to be considered number one. In fact, a lot of prognosticators are picking Flordia or Auburn ahead of LSU in the SEC. I like LSU's chances, but they will have a lot of doubters early in the season.
  10. The thing is, I'm not sure how having disagreements with Baker would keep Rothschild from doing things like helping to improve the control of our pitchers or trying to get our starting pitchers to become more economical, though. I'm sure Baker isn't telling Rothschild to make sure every young pitcher coming up from the farm system remains a wild man or that everybody on our staff should be turned into home run derby pitchers. Rothschild really needs to go with the rest of them. How do you have 23 posts? I'm confused There's J.R. and JR. That's going to get confusing.
  11. Sean, Thanks for taking the time. I've read somewhere that the criticisms of prospect ratings have helped to motivate you. Can you discuss that a little? What other positions have you played besides pitcher? What players have you admired growing up? In what ways have you tried to emulate them? What advice would you give to a group of ten-year-olds about baseball? About life?
  12. Jake, Thanks for taking the time. What has been the biggest difference between the Florida State League and the Southern League? What player or players did you admire growing up? What position did you play when you were younger and at what point did become a catcher?
  13. I don't listen to the Beatles often, but they were a great band. I prefer the later works to the earlier stuff though.
  15. I'll leave that for the sleuths to reveal. Well keep in mind he had the whole "provoking people to attack you so they can be killed in self defense" thing going on. Sounded very familiar to a certain "drunk driving" thread. Srbin84 supposedly showed up at the May bleacher get-together. From descriptions, I don't think he was ZZ.
  16. I'll leave that for the sleuths to reveal. I'm thinking he did have a "Realist"ic view on things.
  17. Scott, whatever you're smoking...I want some.
  18. I love Pink Floyd, but I had to go with the Crue here.
  19. I'm signed up.
  20. Just checking in. Rangers lead the Blue Jays, 6-3.
  21. First of all, I'm not in favor of trading Zmabrano. Assume the Cubs decided to, there's only a few teams that I think could afford to offer what I would want in return. If I did trade him, it would have to be Hershel Walker-like. I'd trade him to the Angels for Jared Weaver, Brandon Wood, Dallas McPherson, and another prosepect. I'd trade him to the Diamondbacks for Drew, Quentin, Gonzalez, and another prospect. I'd trade him to the Rangers for Danks, Diamond, and Volquez and Kinsler. To help them out, I'd throw in Walker. There may be some others, but those are all I can think of and even if those deals were on the table, I'd lean heavily toward keeping him. The Cubs have the money to keep Zambrano around for a long time, so trading him really shouldn't become an option, at least not at this stage.
  22. That deal isn't going to happen. It's not even worthy of discussion.
