  1. Bilk- 1. To defraud, cheat, or swindle 2. To thwart or frustrate 3. To elude $32.5 million for 12 wins in 3 years. Let me know when he wants to give any of the cash back for doing nothing. CubbieRich, do me a favor. Research and find how many times a team, not just a baseball team, signs a player to a big money contract based on performance and then the player, for whatever reasons, suffers an injury. In how many of those instances has the player given back money? You won't find any. The fact is, no one made the Cubs sign him to that contract. Kerry signed his deal after having two very good years in 2002 and 2003. He was 27 years old and looking to be breaking through into a dominant starter. The Cubs took a calculated risk in signing him. Obviously, you have something against Wood. Why not come clean and tell us why you really don't like him. Kerry didn't injure himself on purpose. Is Ben Sheets biling the Brewers since signing his contract? Is Eric Gagne bilking the Dodgers? Did Mo Vaughn bilk the Angels? Did Darren Driefort bilk the Dodgers out of 55 million? I could go on. I don't see you railing that Wade Miller bilked us out of 1 million. Injuries happen in pro-sports. You anti-Wood crusade is comical. You try to make Wood's injuries out to be a character flaw or use it to attack his integrity. What's funny is it makes me question yours. There's obviously a hidden reason behind this because no rational person would think this way.
  2. I'm going with my metal 80's band. I love reliving those days! Time to relive a bit: Gypsy, sittin' lookin' pretty The broken rose with laughin' eyes You're a mystery, always runnin' wild Like a child without a home You're always searching, searching for a feeling That it's easy come and easy go Oh I'm sorry but it's true You're bringin' on the heartbreak Takin' all the best of me Oh can't you see? You got the best of me Whoah can't you see? You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache Can't you see? Oh whoah You're such a secret, misty eyed and shady Lady how you hold the key Oh you're like a candle, your flame slowly fadin' Burnin' out and burnin' me Can't you see? Just try and say to you You're bringin' on the heartache Takin' all the best of me Oh can't you see? You got the best of me Whoah can't you see? You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache Can't you see? Can't you see? No no no You got the best of me Oh can't you see? You got the best of me Whoah can't you see? You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak
  3. I'm voting against Springsteen as a means of protesting the exclusion of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
  4. I'm casting my vote for Bon Jovi. They were the hottest band around in my last three years of high school. I'm going to vote like that. I saw them in concert once and it was a great show. Never Say Good-bye was our senior song. Ok, I'm getting sentimental now.
  5. That's like the most played AC/DC and one of my least favorite songs by them. Hell's Bells and For Those About to Rock are probably my two favorites. For Those About to Rock is great as well.
  6. I could listen to Appetite over and over again. Back in the day, I had it on cassette and listened to it so much I wore out the cassette and had to get another one. I did like Patience off of Lies.
  7. It may have been nice if we had some "Best of ___ Decade" Tourney's to round out the field, allowing automatics to the bands that transcended the decade label.
  8. I wish I could make it to atleast one game but I probably won't this year. It'll be a fun team to watch for sure though, that defense is gonna be nasty. I'm just hoping to get tickets. When I lived in the area from 1994-1999, tickets were impossible to get.
  9. Walker's induction is tonight and he is expected to be at the event. Link.
  10. I wanted to get season tickets this year to the Cowboys. My wife checked her work schedule and she would only be able to go to three of the games, so she vetoed the idea. I still plan on going to two this year and maybe a Saints game in New Orleans as well. I went to two games in Dallas last year.
  11. Around the Joe Horn selects Corey Dillon, RB New England Patriots.
  12. The fleaflicker site does look nice.
  13. I didn't know they had such a following. They always struck me as one of those pleasant classic rock station bands who were nice to listen to but didn't do much in the way of changing the landscape of music. I know you're taking a lot of criticism and that sucks because this is a great undertaking. It's not one I'd ever try because beyond the music I like I'm pretty ignorant of other songs and artists. On the other hand, CCR is an awesome band that is quite revered by fans of classic rock. I've spent numerous times listening to them as I drive and they have a smooth sound. Among people my age and older they have a very strong following.
  14. My all-time favorite song: he was a fast machine She kept her motor clean She was the best damn woman I had ever seen She had the sightless eyes Telling me no lies Knockin' me out with those American thighs Taking more than her share Had me fighting for air She told me to come but I was already there 'Cause the walls start shaking The earth was quaking My mind was aching And we were making it and you - Shook me all night long Working double time On the seduction line She was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine She wanted no applause Just another course Made a meal out of me and came back for more Had to cool me down To take another round Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing 'Cause the walls were shaking The earth was quaking My mind was aching And we were making it and you - Shook me all night long
  15. GNR all the way. They were my favorite band for much of my high school years. I may be voting these guys all the way through.
  16. I think your personal opinions about some bands have affected your work here. I'm not a big fan of Styx, but they should have been included. And how was Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band included but not Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I can understand your rationale in regards to Petty, but shouldn't that apply to Springsteen as well.
  17. I'm voting for Pantera in an upset.
  18. I liked early U2 much better than the crap they put out now. I'm voting them. In the Name of Love is on my top ten of all-time favorite songs.
  19. This one is much closer than it should be. The Eagles should be way ahead.
  20. Do you have any insight as to why Wuertz is still toiling away in Iowa? His performance there more than justifies a promotion. Has he ticked someone off in his previous stays in Chicago? Is there a personality issue we're not aware of?
  21. I'd trade Zambrano to the Dodgers for JD Drew, Billingsley, Kemp, Joel Guzman, and Broxton.
  22. It will take a minimum of 5/60 to get Zito. I'm guessing 5/70. The Cubs should take a pass on this one.
  23. I'm not sure I can vote here. I dislike both, but my hatred of Nirvana wins out.
  24. Going with Queen here!
