  1. God I hope Gregg doesn't blow this one tonight.
  2. How's the creature doing this season?
  3. There's some real gems in Tony Thomas's Twitter feed.
  4. None of those prospects are great, but they aren't horrible either. Morton, if given time, could be a decent starter.

  6. We've talked about going up there for it since the in-laws live in Edwardsville. However, with a baby due any day now, it may not happen.
  7. Can anyone tell me where UL-Monroe SS Ben Songier is projected to be drafted?
  8. Tejada has been on fire lately. He's hitting 362 /388/546. He's not completely a product of MMP. His slugging is lower on the road, but his BA/OBP are fairly consistent. His OBP is driven almost completely by BA, but that's always been the case with Tejada (Billy Beane nicknamed him "Mr. [expletive] Swing at Everything."). The Astros are falling fast and they could save some money by moving Tejada and his 13 million for this year. His contract is up at the end of the season, so it would be wise for the Astros to get something for him while they can. I know it's tough trading with a division rival, but if the Cubs could get Tejada, he could play 3b while Ramirez is out. When Ramirez returns, he may still need days off with his shoulder. Tejada could play some SS and Theriot could play some 2b. I know it would be a problem fitting everyone into the line-up between Theriot, Ramirez, and Tejada, but I think that for the last half of the season, it could be done.
  9. I would have thought that you would surely put Dusty in that Braves line-up.
  10. I wonder if he's pitched well enough for the Padres to take him as a main piece in a deal for Peavy..
  11. Here's my list. Dave Smith. Had served as a pretty good closer for the Astros, but the Cubs paid too much for saves and failed to realize that while a fly ball pitcher in the Astrodome is not a bad thing, a fly ball closer at Wrigley is a very bad thing. He gave up 6 HR in 33 IP in his first season and only pitched 14 innings in his second season. Danny Jackson. After posting a 3.61 ERA for the Reds in 1990, the Cubs made him a lucrative contract offer. He rewarded Cub fans with a 6.75 ERA in 1991. Mid-way through the 92 season, the Cubs unloaded him for Steve Buechele. Gary Gaetti. The Cubs acquired Gaetti for the 1998 playoff push and Gaetti posted a wonderful 320/397/594 line. The Cubs then decided that he deserved an encore and signed him as FA. The 40-yr-old Gaetti showed his gratitude by hitting 204/260/339 in 1999. Todd Hundley. Even if the mercurial Hundley wasn't such an ass, he responded to the Cubs FA contract by hitting 187/268/374 in his first season in Chicago and then followed it up with 211/301/421 in his second season. Hey, at least it was improvement. I looked up "Sucking ass" in the dictionary and there was a picture of Todd giving me the finger. Neifi Perez. After Neifi saved the Cubs in 2005, Jim Hendry responded by giving him a 2 yr 5 million dollar contract. Thankfully, Detroit took him off our hands by giving the Cubs the uberprospect Chris Robinson. Dusty Baker. Do I really need to explain this one. If I do, well it's a lot like fishing.... Mel Rojas. Rojas signed to be the Cubs closer. He didn't last a season in that role. Jeff Blauser. This Cub-killer was supposed to solidify SS for the Cubs. He was all kinds of suck for the Cubs. I almost told him so once. Willie Wilson. Imagine if you will signing Juan Pierre after Pierre is no longer fast, can no longer steal bases, and can no longer beat out infield singles. The Cubs did this. It was a 37-yr old Willie Wilson. He was suck personified.
  12. These are the dugout box seats. Row C is the third row from the wall.
  13. I guess no one is interested; I'm probably going to mail them back in the morning.
  14. I've increased my lead over the last week! I'm still thinking about replacing Chipper, but will probably wait a little bit longer in case my team suffers an injury.
  15. I prefer a poboy to a sub, and the best poboys come from a place called Rays PeGes right here in Monroe. Unless of course you like a shrimp poboy, which I do, and then the best shrimp poboy in town is at Portico or Trios.
  16. I have 2 to July 30, but they're $180 a piece.
  17. that's what she said.
  18. Astros announcer just said Veal is doing a great job on 20-days rest.
