  1. At one time, I used to hear Dale Murphy as a comparison for Harvey. I'm guessing that's not going to happen.
  2. Hotel California is one of the greatest songs ever. Eagles.
  3. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the Cubs have sucked ever since they ran Sosa out of town.
  4. i guess. but so what. My so what is that I think it is a myth that Maddux helps out the young starters. I'm sure he mentions this and that, and maybe it offers a bit of help, but I don't think that help is a substantial improvement at all, and surely not one that should be any reason not to get something for Maddux at the deadline.
  5. 1. Bench 2. Ivan Rodriguez 3. Piazza 4. Fisk 5. Cochrane 6. Berra 7. Hardnett 8. Campanella 9. Carter 10. Simmons
  6. Is there any real validity to his "helping the youngsters out." I'd have preferred if he helped the team more by not sucking since the beginning of May. One pitcher can not carry a team..even if he hat 12 or 13 wins right now we would still be at least 10 games under .500 But if he were so good at helping the kids as well as pitching good himself, shouldn't our team ERA look much better?

  8. Sosa's getting knocked of because he was on the roids, which IMO is deserved. As for Santo, I could name quite a few other players more deserving. So, should we knock off Jenkins because he did greenies? What no proof? Well, Jenkins was caught smuggling drugs into Canada. That alone should be circumstantial enough to believe he would use performancing enhnacers during his career.
  9. Maybe it will improve Maddux's trade value...
  10. The Cubs are wrong then. I love Billy, but I'd probably bumb either him or Fergie off of the list. You just can't ignore Sosa's on-field production.
  11. In my younger days, I would've voted Police, but not anymore. I voted Eagles.
  12. Queen was more influential, but Free Bird is one of my favorite songs and I love Skynard. I'm voting for Skynard.
  13. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/vance_the_cubs_fan/dmitriyoung.jpgSteakGrowsOnDmitri: fuzzy nuff for ya?
  14. No one was hostile. We supported our arguments and you didn't. And your post here tells me all I need to know about you. And you won't be missed. And if we backed up "sterotypes" by being knowledgeable and calling out a bigot when we see one, well kudos for us. Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split ya!
  15. I can't see him being any worse than Pierre. I'm agreeing with you a lot lately, goony. But that statement is true. Jones might not have the range of Pierre, but I think he gets better jumps. His arm even when spiking the ball in the grass on a third of his throws is better than Pierre. That being said, wouldn't we want someone better than both on defense, all things being equal? More importantly, I guess my question is would it benefit the Cubs to move Jones to CF and find a RF bat (in that case who?) or keep Jones in RF and go with a Pie/Lofton (or someone comparable) platoon? I think a lot depends on what bats the Cubs could find. In all of my roster configurations for 2007, I've assumed Jones will be a part of the team. His offense would fit better in CF than RF or LF. I'm not sold on him playing any one spot, but the Cubs have to improve themselves on offense.
  16. Any chance they want to unload J.D. Drew? If not, how about Maddux for Eithier?

  18. I'll advocate Maddux to the Padres for George Kottaras or Maddux to the Diamondbacks for Carlos Gonzalez.
  19. I'd advocate sending Maddux and a reliever for Kottaras.
  20. What was it he said about Mariotti again? Isolated incident, probably. Wait, was there something about Magglio? Probably just twice. Huh? ARod and Nomar too? If you think Ozzie was insinuating that Jay was gay, you are mistaken. This subject has been beaten to death, so I find it hard to believe people still think Ozzie was calling him gay. It's a word people use nowadays. It doesn't even mean gay anymore. The people who were the LEAST offended by this was the gay community. Players, coaches, and White Sox fans all love the guy. It's the fans of every other team that seem to hate him. Must be ring envy. Go figure. No, we don't think Ozzie was calling Mariotti a homosexual. That's not the offensive part. The offensive part is that he used a homosexual slur to imply Marriotti is "less of a man", thereby implying that is what he thought of homosexuals. His use of it means he is either an idiot or a bigot or likely both. I doubt it is ring envy. Maybe it's homerism that White Sox players, coaches and fans can't see the obnoxious neanderthal in the dugout. I remember laughing at some of the childish things a few of my drunk friends once did until I thought of how really stupid they were. Why did it take me long to see it? Because they were my friends and I didn't want to see it. That's probably the Sox problem with Ozzie. While the rest of the civilized world realized what an imbecile and bigot he is, his own just can't.
  21. From http://www.dictionary.com: ob·nox·ious(b-nkshs, b-)- adj. 1. Very annoying or objectionable; offensive or odious Hey that sounds just like Ozzie.
  22. Ozzie is an uncouth, abrasive, obnoxious, bigoted, foul-mouthed idiot. Which is understandable. Uncouth, possibly. Abrasive, most definitely. Obnoxious? Not so much. Bigoted, no way. Foul mouthed, of course. Idiot? Far from it. I think his comment about Mariotti and then his follow-up response proved otherwise.
  23. Ozzie is an uncouth, abrasive, obnoxious, bigoted, foul-mouthed idiot. Which is understandable. Don't hold back, Vance..... tell us how you really feel !! I actually was holding back...lol.
