  1. There isn't an error on the runner being safe at first, but since a run scores because the ball got away, I believe they can charge an error on the play.
  2. Looks like Lee and Izturis are trying to help us get that pick.
  3. I have my theory, but I'm not opening that can of worms tonight.
  4. This thread is taking a comical sterotypical turn. :lmao:
  5. I'm eagerly awaiting the excuse Baker will make for Bynum, but had it been Theriot, he'd be tossed under the bus.
  6. Well, if Jones is in CF, how about acquiring Giles and then signing Sheffield to play RF. Here's the line-up: 2b Giles LF Murton 1b Lee RF Sheffield 3b Ramirez C Barrett CF Jones SS Izturis
  7. Juan Pierre would never be the #8 hitter on this team. You seem to be switching back and forth to abstract and specifics, and from what the Cubs should do, and what is the best we can hope for with Hendry. Juan Pierre should not be on the 2007 Cubs. However you want want to explain it, that would be bad. Not resigning Juan is an easy move to make, that doesn't require a dancing partner, or significant investment. It should be one of the first moves made, whether we're talking ideal world or Hendry world. Juan Pierre is a net drain on this team. At his inevitably higher cost, he will be an even bigger drain. You cannot bring him back if you care about improving the offense. Okay we swing Jones around whom leads off? Now the Cubs are right back in the No leadoff hitter mode again. Great. I think Murton would make an acceptable lead-off hitter. If the Cubs could swing a trade for Marcus Giles, he'd be acceptable at lead-off as would Ray Durham.
  8. Based on the numbers, Pujols should be the MVP. Can't blame Cardinal fans for getting this one right.
  9. I think Jones would be a good choice in CF and would allow the Cubs to acquire a better bat for RF. Jones's throws, as bad as they are, are no worse than Pierre's.
  10. That's what happens when you park in Al Davis's parking spot. Are you serious? Yes.
  11. This can't be good.
  12. Predictable.
  13. That's what happens when you park in Al Davis's parking spot.
  14. TD pass to Gates locks up my victory!
  15. Tie game! Another 20 yds receiving and I'll win despite the rest of my team sucking ass.
  16. Is it possible that the Hill and Zito comparisons could now be legit?
  17. I never said I had the advantage of playing the game. I do believe I have enough knowledge to understand the game. Although im not really good sometimes in explaning things, I do feel I know what I am talking about. My opinion obviously differs from the majority of the people on here though. I dont want anyone thinking Im better than anyone, because im not. Dick Mill's program really gave me alot of knowledge about the game. When you use your experience as a player and then refer to others as "stats geeks" and comment that we should "watch the game" you are doing just that. Would you be offended if I called you a dumb jock? That's the flip side of your stats geek, watch the game comment.
  18. Right now, I'm rooting against anyone ranked higher than LSU, so I have no qualms rooting for Michigan.
  19. I second what Tim just wrote. I'll freely admit I didn't have the talent you have to play the game. That being said, I did the best with what I could and when I quit playing in high school, I worked as the student assistant coach my senior year and kept working with the team while in college. I've watched somewhere near 200 games a year for the past couple of years as long as well as have read as much as I can from books from the saber approach as well as those containing conventional wisdom. Take no offense, but just having talent to play does not equate with knowledge. Playing gives you a perspective, but that perspective is only part of the equation.
  20. Forgive me if I'm not too optimistic about Colvin. I'm not sure he even belongs among the Cubs top 20-25 prospects this year.
  21. Hill doesn't even look like the same pitcher anymore. He's filthy. Hill and Zambrano make a nice two-fifths of the rotation for next season. If we could sign Schmidt to go along with Prior and whoever wins out for the fifht spot, I think our pitching will be ok.
  22. Rich Hill should be guaranteed a spot in next year's rotation.
