  1. The best way for the Cubs to acquire Santana would be to trade Zambrano for additional chips which would be used in a deal for Santana.
  2. I don't think Bernie is any more than a DH right now. I think he'd be pretty bad defensively in CF. Furthermore, if he wouldn't accept a ST invite on a minor league deal from the Yankees, I'm almost certain he wouldn't accept one from the Cubs. The Cubs aren't in a position to offer him a spot on the roster, so I have to say no on Bernie.
  3. According to Muskat's mailbag today, Link, Zambrano's arbitration hearing is set for February 20. Muskat seems to think the Cubs will sign Z to a one-year deal before that time. Is there the possibility the Cubs will have their first arbitration hearing since, well I can't remember the last time the team had one... Also, would going to arbitration with Zambrano nearly insure that he walks at the end of the season?
  4. I wonder what he and his wife were trying to cause this. :-k
  5. How do you know this? That would be fantastic. I'm really looking forward to ST. Hopefully we'll see Gooz dominate and move into the big league rotation. To emphasize, Oneri said during the convention that Guzman's curveball is back. They gushed about him and seemed to believe the stuff he had pre-injury was returning.
  6. for new players, a ten team league might be more fun. There will be lots of players available. I wouldn't have more than 12, esepcially if you are all beginners. 18-20 team leagues can be fun, but they require a lot of work to keep competitive.
  7. Pierre is Willie Wilson. Nothing more, nothing less.
  8. Eh, not so much. It's not like he's going to K that many.
  9. Link. His top five: 1. Yankees 2. Indians 3. Mets 4. Tigers 5. Red Sox How he ranks the NL Central: 13. Cardinals 16. Cubs 18. Brewers 21. Astros 26. Reds 29. Pirates His comments on the Cubs:
  10. I think it's because Dwayne Wade lacks leadership.
  11. Dave Smith anyone?
  12. Link. I find it a bit funny myself.
  13. With Guerrero, GMJR, and Garrett Anderson, I'm not sure why they would need Jones. I think they think Anderson needs to spend time at DH.
  14. I'm expecting Ced Landrum or Ozzie Timmons to make an appearance on that list somewhere.
  15. http://www.cubworld.com/filebin/product/full/New%20BP%20cap.jpg not sure i like that hat I'm pretty sure I don't.
  16. I think this may be one of my favorite quotes from the site.
  17. I hope Marquis does really well with the Cubs. I do think it's a bad decision by Marquis and a bad decisison by the Cubs to allow the number to be worn. Will I boo Marquis or hope he fails because of it? No. But if he starts to stink up the joint, this move will hardly make me sympathetic for him.
  18. The level of Marquis' stupidity seems only matched by the height of his ERA.

  20. Good for me. Except I'm not for the max on IP. Usually if someone is making the effort to add/drop for K's or W's they can end up hurting WHIP and ERA. Also, when they make the drop they run the risk of someone picking up the players they drop.
  21. 6 or 7 would be fine with me. I like a decent size bench with maybe 1 or 2 DL spots for during the season.
  22. You mean like McKnight saying that Bush called him a few times? The NCAA will do nothing, just like it did about Leinart and Jarrett and Bush. This rule is stupid anyway. It's kind of a lot to expect a football program to control what people outside the program are doing. While it may not be the case this time, if Reggie Bush just decided to call this kid and try to talk him into going to USC, how can USC stop him from doing that? Supposedly, McKnight had questions about the probabtion on so he listened in on a conference call between Carroll and Bush to help calm his fears. McKnight mentioned this in his presser, and suddenly Carroll goes on damage control and now the kid and his high school coach are denying any contact ever took place. I doubt anything will be done, but it does appear a violation took place.
  23. Sounds like someone is trying to cover something up. Link.
  24. I'm reading there are now allegations that Reggie Bush contacted McKnight before he signed his LOI.
