  1. Giving up no runs in an inning is an improvement. I'd like to see him throw at least one curve for a strike, though.
  2. It looks as if he's in the 86-87 range, with the exception of one 112.
  3. Well, after this half inning, we'll see what Prior has. Lilly looked good today.
  4. Len said that was the plan. If Guzman also goes three, there's your pitchers for today.
  5. According to Sullivan, Lou wants to narrow the 5th starter's race down to 2 pitchers by the 20th. Big outing by Prior today.
  6. Lilly racking up some pitches, but looking fairly sharp today.
  7. Coats is trying to earn that spot on the bench.
  8. What's wrong with Izturis? He was promoted through the minors b/c of his defense and his bat is still catching up. His hitting has improved, especially his plate discipline. Izturis has speed and plays ridiculously well at SS. He's not Tejada at the plate, no question, but he can be very useful. What's our other option? Ronny Cedeno? lol Theriot would be an option.
  9. I don't see any way barring injuries that he's not. His bat is ready, but the organization believes he needs to work on his defense. He needs to play everyday, and he's behind DeRosa and Theriot on the depth chart right now.
  10. Hopefully, Murton will play well enough that he gets 2/3 of the AB's in left and Floyd picks his up in other places.
  11. If it were my choice, I'd agree. Unfortunately, I think he's on the bubble as far as the Cubs are concerned.
  12. Do you really think they'll send Gallagher back to AA? I would but I don't think they will. From what I've heard, it sounds like he's had a good camp. I agree. I can see reasons for and against sending him down, but I really think he'll be in Iowa. For selfish reasons, I'd like for him to be sent to Tennessee so I could watch him pitch when they play the Braves in Mississippi. I guess I'll have to be satisfied with watching Veal instead.
  13. Bruce reported this nugget in his article today. Link, Another good decision by Lou.
  14. Yes, he's Carney's son. Josh Lansford was the Cubs' 6th round pick last season. Wilken says that Josh is "cat-like" around the bag.
  15. I found this article in the Sun Times about the rapport between Piniella and Trammell. After reading what I have this offseason, I think we've constructed a fine coaching staff. Now, let's hope the players can get it done on the field.
  16. Sammy is making me excited to watch the Rangers this year. I usually take in a few Ranger games a year because my sister-in-law lives there and it's close. I may have to make a few more trips (in addition to the Cubs one in June.)
  17. Do you really think they'll send Gallagher back to AA?
  18. That's what I've heard as well. I've never heard any respected major league pitching coach support Marshall's conclusions.
