  1. The fact remains, Barrett's altercations have always happened with opponents. All Barrett did was say look at [expletive] scoreboard. You've given up a million hits today, don't blame this one on me. Sure, Barrett could have walked away and avoided the whole thing. But some guys don't like getting called out like that. I know I wouldn't have. It's about time someone told Zambrano to stop acting like an 11-year-old. Once again, we don't know why Barrett went into the clubhouse. Maybe he went there because he wanted to talk about it. Was that stupid? Considering how hotheaded and immature Zambrano is, yes. But it doesn't mean Barrett had no excuse to go there. And regardless of how terrible a catcher Barrett may or may not be, Zambrano was out of line. I've taken up for Z for the last time. He's an immature brat and I hope his time with the Cubs ends shortly.
  2. Wasn't there an incident with Murton earlier this year where Zambrano showed him up? I can't recall what exactly happened, but I do vaguely remember something taking place. I can remember one with Murton and one with Walker. I think there have been others as well. Zambrano, as much as I've liked him, is a punk. His bravado is fun and entertaining when he's going well, like his predicting the Cubs will win 110 games or his claiming he'll win the Cy. But when things go bad, he's an immature jackass. Barrett's an emotional player as well. We've seen this with Oswalt and AJ. The difference is Barrett is usually taking on the other team and not his own. That behavior may not be good, but it's world's better than pouting and blaming your own teammates. Zambrano was acting like a baby and Barrett called him on his prima donna attitude. Maybe if Zambrano started throwing the ball better and quit trying to act like Kent Tekulve he'd get more outs this year. I basically agree with you here. Barrett should not have started round 2, if indeed he did. I'm withholding judgement on round 2 until I know more. While Barrett went into the clubhouse, right now we don't know what happened to re-ignite things. Barrett may have gone in there to continue the fight, or he may have gone there to ask Z wtf was his problem. I don't know...and right now none of us do. We might never know. But from what I saw on the tape, it was clear this was more a cause of Zambrano acting like a complete prima donna ass, and Barrett simply pointing that out.
  3. Sadly, this is probably what people were saying in the early 1980s. What do you guys think the chances are that the new owner is better rather than worse than the Tribune? I would say less than 25 percent. I have no idea if the new owner will be better, but right now we're in a holding pattern. At least that will change when the sale is completed.
  4. the smart thing to do would be to go out and get a C using a Murton (while he still has a high ceiling). Barrett more than likely wont be resigned next year, so we could just go ahead and plug whomever in that hole. I would like Salty, and barrett being from Atlanta would be a good fit there, but dont think Murton and Barrett get that deal done. Think that the Braves would be asking for a lot more b/c Salty has a chance of being something special. If we're asking for Salty, the Braves will want Guzman or someone of his caliber for starters. Being able to have a long term, high quality type player at catcher might be worth it. I'd consider it as well. Salty is an excellent defender and probably will hit.

  7. Gammons talked to the Rangers GM the other nite. The Rangers want 4 young players for him- 2 position and 2 pitchers. Gammons said no one will give them even 3, so a trade is very unlikely. No way the Rangers take Z with the contract issues and everything else going on. How about Murton, Moore, Holliman, and Guzman. That's four young players...
  8. This isn't the first time Zambrano has shown up a teammate. It's just that Barrett called him out for his own suckiness. Barrett is not faultless in this, but it all began because Zambrano acts worse than a 11-year-old when things don't go his way.
  9. I've seen three different angles multiple times each now. Barrett didn't charge Z in any meaningful sense of the word. Agreed.
  10. Not if we have to watch Murton. Trade him while you can. He's a bad outfielder, no real speed and can't hit with men on. Pagan can fill his role and can play defense. But Pagan can't hit at all. He hits as well as Murton and at least has some power, which warning track Matt doesn't seem to have. Other than some OBP what does Murton add? Defense-no. Speed-no. power-no. Just what does he add other than misguided belief that he'll be some kind of star? In what alternate universe does Pagan hit as well as Murton?
  11. Agreed. Imagine how much more we would've gotten if this had been blown up last year like it should have been. I try not to dwell on the negative.
  12. I agree. Hendry is a lame duck. The new guy may or may not keep Lou. Until the sale of the team is completed, this team will flounder.

  14. We knew it wouldn't be long before Floyd got hurt. This could be a good thing.
  15. I don't think the Rangers would do Tex for Zambrano. The Rangers aren't making theplayoffs this year, so they'd have no interest in renting Z for half a season unless they could negotiate an extension before completing the deal.
  16. I'm thinking both could be dealt. The Cubs will get pennies on the dollar in both deals. This season is done. It's time to blow it up.
  17. Aramis has no trade protection. Make him the cornerstone of the new team. I might keep Lee as well. Everyone else can go.
  18. Guys...season is done, finit, over. Zambrano and Barrett's fight will be the highlight or lowlight...but either way, it just marked the end.
  19. So I get back from going with the family to Grant's Farm to learn that Barrett and Zambrano got more hits on each other than the Cubs have gotten all week. Figures.
  20. The National League Central is the ass of major league baseball.
  21. After watching the Cubs play in person this week, none of them deserve to be on a major league team much less an All-Star team.
  22. Personally, I think Dean Hancock should sue the stripper Josh was on the phone with as well. If she hadn't promised him that hummer, he would never have been in such a hurry to get there.
