  1. So Cuban, and Cuban alone, is responsible for the personnel decisions on the Mavs, and would be if he bought the Cubs? no, but only jerry jones has his hand further in the cookie jar than mark cuban. Okay, let's assume that Cuban has a lot of influence over these things. He took over a team in January of 2000 that ended up finishing 40-42. After that: 53-29 57-25 60-22 52-30 58-24 60-22 67-15 That's a .709 Winning percentage in the more difficult of the two conferences. He's not running the team into the ground. The exact opposite, actually. Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! Cuban has consistently put the Mavs in a position to win. He would be a first class owner.
  2. I agree! Continue to wish Sean our best. I'm hoping to see him mow down some batters when I watch the Cubs take on the Rangers in a little over a week.
  3. Cuban has taken care of his players as owner of the Mavericks. He's turned them into a second rate organization to one that treats its players great. I can fully understand why the players would want him as owner. Cuban gets my vote as well. Hopefully, he'll decide that purchasing the Cubs in an edeavor he'd like to undertake.
  4. Yes. Pitching to Andruw Jones was something he never should have done.
  5. I'd love to dump Jones. Right now, I don't see it happening though. That would be the smart move. Pagan is probably the one to go.
  6. I echo Raw's post. While the results aren't as good as everyone would like, I thought he handled himself well and his stuff was good. I'm sure there were some butterflies as well. I look forward to seeing his next outing, which likely will be in Marquis's next start.
  7. I still have two tickets for Wednesday's game if anyone is interested. If you want them, I can mail or leave at will call.
  8. It appears as if the Cubs won't face John Smoltz on Sunday afterall. Link. Also, the Braves put Cormier back on the DL.
  9. I'm still scratching my head over what happened to Jerome Williams. It looked like he had finally figured everything out at the end of 2005, then he just completely fell off the face of the planet in 2006. It's kind of strange how no one talks about the impact his ineffectiveness had on this team since 2006, especially considering he had a rotation spot locked down after 2005. I think Williams's downfall was his work ethic and ability to stay in shape.
  10. After Jones homers for the second time today off of Marquis, Gallagher will get his first action of the season.
  11. Holy Sh------- . That's not going to be fun to watch.
  12. And I'll be right there with you unfortunately. Keep in mind, even if they win, they will still be 4 games under .500. I'm saving any optimism until they at least reach 500 again.
  13. I'm not even back to cautiously optimisitc yet, but I have moved from cynically distanced to pessimisitcally observant.
  14. That's certainly not the way to get a suspension reduced on appeal. When Bob Watson is handing them out and it involves an Astro, you never know.
  15. Hoping for another stellar outing by Holliman.
  16. Plz don't suck. I have a feeling this is the game we'll see Gallagher's MLB debut.
  17. ya lol, im sure hes ready those high school pitchers are all u need to be ready for the pros, vitters is gonna be really damn good tho, from what i have read today he is projected to be a .290-.310 hitter with 35-40 homer power i read he is projected to be jesus. How's Jesus' plate discipline these days? Pretty good, but he still can't hit a curveball.
