  1. Looks like the Brewers game plan is to get Rich out early by taking lots of pitches.
  2. Nice strike out to start the game...but nine pitches!
  3. I haven't been real good with keeping up my end of the blogging either.
  4. There is a good point. If Cuban were to add someone to his group that carries clout with MLB, it might enhance his chances at ownership. Of course, Cuban likes to do things his own way. His having to share leadership may not work for him.
  5. I think I've confirmed everyone. I'm going to hold off giving out any more until I mail these and make sure everyone who I promised one has gotten theirs.
  6. Vance, I sent you a pm. If you still have one left, I'd like to get one. Thanks. I responded.
  7. Another homer for Dunn today. :)
  8. Astros beat the Rockies as Fuentes blows the save. Carlos Lee just hit a grandslam.
  9. I'm weary of Colangelo. I've always felt he had the inside track, so Canning getting in on this is much better than Jerry getting his hands on the team. I'm still wanting Cuban to be there. I'm aware of the difficulties and the unliklihood that he is in the mix, but as long as there is hope, I'm hoping for Maverick Mark to be among the bidders.
  10. A third possibility to move Jones, might be in a deal with Texas for Kenny Lofton. Lofton is making six million this year. The Cubs likely still have to pay Jones' salary for next season, but the salaries even out for this season. The Cubs are going to have to include player or players with Jones, but that might be palatable. Getting Lofton might take some pressure off of Pie. Another option while looking at Texas, would be Gagne. Like Lofton, Gagne's making six million this year. Getting him would be pricier, but if he's a target, then talking the Rangers into taking Jones could be possible. We might also look at the Nationals. We could agree to take back Christian Guzman and toss in some prospects as well.
  11. Just added 3001 and passes Clemente.
  12. Biggio surpasses 3000 hits tonight and then adds 3001.
  13. Another possibility would be to move Jones in a deal to the Reds for Griffey or Dunn. The Cubs would be adding salary in that deal, so the Cubs would probably have to increase the value of players going to the Reds. Jim might convince the Reds to take Jones to help offset the salaries the Cubs would be taking back.
  14. Is there a possibility of sending Jones + a prospect to the Giants for Omar Vizquel. Vizquel has been horrible this season, but he's in the last year of his contract. We'd be rid of Jones and Vizquel's contract expired. We might even get the Giants to take back Izturis, which would make the money exchanged pretty even.
  15. Frank has a career line of 303/425/562 with a career OPS+ of 158. He had ten seasons where his OPS+ was above 150. In his peak seasons of 1990-1997, his lowest OPS+ was 174. He was a 5X AS, holds two MVP awards, ranked in the top five in MVP voting four other times, led the league in OBP four times (finishing in the top five four other times), and led league in slugging once (finishing in the top five six other times). Even with a DH discount, Thomas is a no doubt, first ballot, you'd have to be brain dead not to vote for him candidate.
  16. My serious entry, Pujols Santana Reyes Peavy Cabrera
  17. I have confirmed all who sent me a pm. I still have 2-3 left, so let me know.
  18. I don't know about Ryno, but I heard Raffy liked Cindy. Dave Martinez too. I think Hector Villunueva probably hit on that too.
  19. Maybe the reason "puff pieces" are written about Ryno is because there is not a lot of bad things that can be said about him (other than the delusional rantings of Cubette of course). He wasn't a selfish player, his teammates loved him, his opponents admired him, his players respect him and he was never suspected of using steroids. Other than marrying his high school sweetheart who turned into a philandering wench, the guy didn't make a lof of mistakes. He cheated on his wife. NOT the other way around. Cindy said he was the one who slept around. Cindy is happy to be rid of him. And we should take Cindy's word about who cheated on whom, why?
  20. Erstad Eckstein Pierre Y. Molina Jeff Weaver My team is gritty and knows how to win.
  21. For those interested, pm me with addresses. I'll confirm with a pm. I'm trying to make sure I have enough left.
  22. This one is within five votes. Anything can happen here!
  23. How did Longoria and Brignac look overall? In particular, how did Brignac look defensively? Brignac looked good defensively. Both didn't look overly good at the plate.
