Pena's numbers are horrendous this year. His numbers last year weren't too terrible though. He definitely has potential. I might take a run at him if he's basically free. I'd be all over the chance to acquire Santana. I'm not sure what is the cause of his struggles, but he's good enough to take the risk.

He still might be, actually. On the other hand, who wants to take that risk? Depending on the cost in players, I'd take it. Theriot + Petrick. I'd take the risk, though I might try Cedeno + Petrick. But either way, it's a small price to pay for the upgrade if Tejeda comes back healthy.

While that would be nice, I am still holding out for the Browns to continue there suckiness, and that 1st round pick for Quinn turns into Darren McFadden. I'd happily take Larry Johnson...but yes, I'd like to have McFadden as well. All we have to do is convince them to start Brady Quinn from the outset. Hello, first pick. I think their odds are better with Frye or Derek Anderson, who should never have started for anyone to begin with Either way...Go Whoever is playing Cleveland.

It will be interesting to see if the Reds involve Hatteberg into the deal. Salty has been playing 1st base for the Braves, so this way they get a SP and a 1st baseman. I think I would ask for another prospect if Hatteberg was added into the deal, though. Maybe a lower level pitcher. I don't think Hatteberg would be enough for the Braves right now. Whether or not they should, they won't. They value Salty very highly. It wouldn't be enough? Hatteberg is a .300 hitter who walks alot. Arroyo, who is beginning to come back to form now that Narron is gone, would a great addition to their staff and is probably the best SP on the market. I don't see the Braves getting a better offer then that. And then they choose to keep Salty for now since there under no pressure to trade him. Hatteberg and Arroyo are a substantial upgrade over Salty for THIS year. If they want to win THIS year, then they would do the deal. I honeslty don't know, as a Reds fan, if I would trade Arroyo for Salty straight up. The Braves value Salty....a lot. JS usually doesn't trade his prospects, especially the better ones without much caution. While both of those could help the Braves, I don't see them making that deal. They have a lot of prospects they would trade...I can see them making Jo-Jo Reyes, Harrison, Smith, Lillibridge, B. Jones, Escobar, and Diory Hernandez all available in a deal. If they are getting a 1b back, they would also part with Thorman. I just don't see them trading Salty unless they get a marquee player like Teixeira back in the deal.

Just thought it could have spiralled out of control when someone posts that they heard from an inside source about a trade that went down and was made public like 5 hours before. You just love Posada don't you, Don't get me wrong it'd be great to have him here Not so much Posada; I'd just love to have a catcher with a .332/411/514 line. lots of lust for players you can't have, Vance... I know....Posada was only a chance if the Yankees continued to massively suck. I still don't think they have a chance, but they are close enough not to become sellers.

I just wish the Yankees had lost more and we'd gotten Posada to upgrade catcher instead of Kendall.

Out of all the options, Griffey makes sense. It just seems like a fit. Except for the cost to get him. The issue with Griffey is the Reds will likely want a package that includes one of Hill or Marshall, and without adding another starter, the Cubs can't afford to pay that price.
