  1. Apparently, Michael Irvin is acting as unofficial recruiter to get Pacman to Dallas. Link.
  2. Are you serious? Theriot must be a GOD AWFUL SS if this is the case. No, it's just that Theriot is a slightly below average SS that provides little to nothing with the bat. Lopez is a little more below average SS that could be quite an asset with the bat.
  3. I agree that Theriot is a better fit in the eighth spot. He has a good eye; his problem lies in that while he recognizes pitches well, he can't do much with those pitches that are strikes. Pitchers aren't afraid to challenge him at all. He would probably do well at 8. Pie would do better in the 7th spot.
  4. I watch plenty of games. Lopez at SS is fairly equal to Theriot at SS with the glove. He's slightly worse, but not enough that he wouldn't likely make up for it with his bat.
  5. If we could get him for Cedeno that would be good. Cedeno is out of options and has done nothing to earn a spot on the team. Lopez could replace Theriot some at SS, play some second , and make us a better team.
  6. Reed Johnson is apparently on waivers. Link Would Reed Johnson be a passable option as a reserve CF? He only played one game in Cf last season, he played 16 in 2006, and 9 in 2005. If he can handle CF adequately, he could be a decent option for the bench. Last year he didn't do too well, but his line in 2006 was passable. He's a better option in my opinion than Byrd or Payton. If he's been placed on waivers, could the Cubs offer a low level prospect and get him before he clears waivers?
  7. 194. Barry Zito 195. Vernon Wells
  8. Jose Cruz Jr is in the Astros camp as an NRI. He's currently hitting 353/.431/.608 in 51 AB. He's a switch hitter who can play all three outfield spots. There are some thoughts that he could beat out Reggie Abercrombie for a spot on the Astros' bench. However, the Astros are in need of starting pitching. Their current rotation is Oswalt, Backe (coming back from surgery), Wandy, Chacon, and either Woody Williams or Chris Sampson. Marquis could fit in the back end of the rotation for them and Cruz could be the platoon mate in CF for the Cubs. I know there may be some reluctance to help out a divisional rival coming out of spring, but this could be a good deal for both teams. Thoughts?
  9. While I don't like Theriot leading off, moving Fukudome to second and slotting Soriano either third or fifth would be an improvement. Personally, I like the idea of Fukudome leading off, DeRosa hitting second with Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez following in no particular order and Theriot hitting eighth. I doubt that would ever happen, but that might be what I'd look at.
  10. Bottom of 4th Atkins triples off the wall. Murton badly misplayed it. Spillborghs lines a grounder 5-3. Atkins holds at third. Iannetta grounds out to third. Nice play by DeRosa. Atkins still at third. Barmes hits one off Marshall for infield single. Atkins scores. Redmond K's. End of 4th, 2-1 Rockies
  11. Top of 4th DeRosa K's. Murton singles to right. Ward GIDP. Mid of 4, 1-1. Ward and Redmond collide.
  12. Bottom of 3rd Tulowitzski singles to left. Murton bobbles the ball. Tulowitzski is picked off 1-3-6. Helton K's. Holliday grounds out to short. End of 3, 1-1
  13. Top of third McGhee grounds out. Pie doubles down the RF line. Pie to third on a past ball. Marshall singles to left, Pie scores. Theriot pops out. Cedeno grounds out to third. Mid 3, 1-1.
  14. Bottom of 2nd Iannetta walks Barmes pops out. Redmond bunts out 1-3. Iannetta to 2nd. Taveras grounds out 6-3 End of 2, 1-0 Rockies.
  15. Infield single for Murton. For a guy with not a lot of speed, Murton gets a lot of those.
  16. Is that gown like a cap and gown or is this an evening gown...or a wedding gown. I'm confused.
  17. What do the Cubs need? I think the Cubs would say they need a right-handed outfielder that can play CF. I think we need an upgrade at SS and would like a better pitcher than what either Dempster or Marquis will add to the rotation.
  18. Thanks! If anyone happens to have had a pharm school/med school interview in the past couple years, I'd love to hear some tips or ideas of what types of questions to expect. My wife is a pharmacist and her dad is the dean of pharmacy at SIUE, so I'll ask her if she has any suggestions. My brother is also a professor of clinical pharmacy at UL-Monroe, so he may have some ideas as well. Thanks, Vance. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have my first interview Monday at UIC (my first choice). If you hear anything that might help me send me a PM or something. Thanks, a lot. She's worked until 11 the past two nights, so I haven't had much chance to ask. We're going drinking with friends tonight, but I may have a chance to ask her this weekend if she has any pointers.
  19. I've pretty much decided on my players, I just can't decide on a decent wild card.
