  1. Let's hope so. I'll even take Pie is going to be a SOLID player! He'll be solid and then progress to fantastic. I have confidence in Pie producing. The key is playing time and this year is the year for him to get that. Meph disagrees. who's Meph? oh, right, the nsbblol blogger... Really? Yes, really. When was this figured out? I wouldnt have guessed it , particularly given the rant on Meph himself. If so, he loses serious credibility. Because while some of it is fair, most of it is just crass. yes, it's true. long story, but the blogger was him and now he's banned I just read some of it and holy crap! What's with all the racism? If you're referring to the racism in the comments, that is none other than our old frieds Baseball7897 and Reds44 with a little Omar sprinkled in.

  3. Boston Globe reports Red Sox have no interest in Marquis or Fuld. Link.
  4. If Wood proves he can go back to back games, it's his job. I think right now, the Cubs are skeptical to his ability to do so.
  5. And yet, we're still trying to trade for another one.
  6. Let's see if Cotts can blow a 10-run lead....
  7. My parents live in Surprise. Trust me, there aren't alot of hot women there. Obviously. it's like uggo city. Is that politically incorrect? Whether politically correct or not, it appears to be factually correct.
  8. Kroeger was a highly touted prospect in the Diamondbacks system before falling out of favor. In 2005, Sickels rated him the number five prospect in their system. Sickels had this to say. In 2005, he put up mediocre numbers in a good hitting environment. He failed in a brief call-up with the Dbacks, and in 2006 his numbers were dismal. He did very well last season at age 24. It's likely he's just a late bloomer and that it has taken him this long to put it all together. He's a corner outfielder, so unless the Cubs are besieged by injury, he's in the wrong organization to break through. He would be a decent LH bat off the bench.
  9. I hope Ward continues to hit like this into the regular season.
  10. Dempster couldn't find the strike zone with a GPS and a map,
  11. And Dempster shows his true colors this inning.
  12. Unless he can prove he's versatile enough to handle SS if needed. Lou mentioned on the broadcast yesterday, that Mike was going to play some SS in upcoming games. Fontenot's bat is better than Cedeno's. Also, right now both of our MI are RH, so having a LH compliment might be preferred.
  13. It would appear so. Of course it begs the question at whose expense. I don't think either Fontenot or Cedeno have options remaining.
  14. Have you spoken with Marshall at all about this? I'm sure he's not happy with what's likely to happen, but how's his attitude in general about it? Hopefully he's not taking an "I'm just an employee" attitude like Prior did. His attitude is good. He sees the situation and really isn't one to complain. We saw his wife on yesterday's broadcast. I wouldn't complain either. :D
  15. I don't think any of us really believe that Takatsu will make the team so that's probably why most aren't upset that he blew the save. Sure I prefer winning to losing, but by the middle of April I will have forgotten entirely what the Cubs ST record is much less that Takatsu blew the lead in a split squad game to the A's.
  16. Dempster is looking sharp today. But then again, the Royals suck...so take it with a grain of salt.
  17. I hope Pie can continue to hit into the regular season.
  18. Too bad Haufpauir is in the wrong organization to find a spot on the bench.
