  1. I don't plan on being there Wednesday, but will be there tonight. And my god, the beach was nice this morning.
  2. I'll miss this one as I'll be flying from DFW to LAX.
  3. Alabama will an impressive victory over East Carolina. Hey vance, it seems that Alabama and LSU are only two SEC teams that wants to continue playing baseball. I'm nervous to tell the truth. I just don't see LSU winning out when they've already won 21 straight...but so far, it's been one hellova run.
  4. Welcome back to Wrigley, Rusch. http://dedicated.goofball.com/goofball/photos/2005/BigBoobs.jpg
  5. I like Lofton, and comapared to Edmonds, I'd much rather have Lofton. My concern is I'm not sure that Lofton is passable in CF anymore.
  6. I was ten minutes into my drive to Texas when the game started. When it became 4-0, I was pissed. At 8-0, I had given up all hope. I almost drove off the road when we took the lead. Unbelievable!
  7. Nah. I think Raisin's trouncing of Reds44 in the opening round of the best poster tourney was more lopsided.
  8. Yep. Our righties will get to face [expletive] himself. Link So, in honor of Rusch's return to Wrigley... EDITED
  9. While stopping by Bruce's blog , I found this little nugget. At the end of the blog, Bruce asks what we think of the 130 pitch night. Personally, I didn't like it. I felt he should have been pulled the inning before. Of course, with the Cubs winning it was quickly over looked. (I also over looked much of the abuse of Mark Prior in 2003, but I digress.) A lot of my feelings on it will be determined after I see how Zambrano is used in his next couple of starts. If he's lifted early or around 100 pitches in the next two or so, then I'm not so upset over this one time abuse. So, I'm taking a wait and see approach on the whole thing.
  10. A few comments... First, this deal would never happen. I don't think that the Cubs would look to do it, nor do I think the Mets would take on Soriano's contract at this point, even if they were unloading Beltran. Now, after saying that, is this a move I would make as the Cubs? Probably. The main reason I'd make this move is if our hole to fill was in LF rather than CF, we'd have a plethora of choices at the deadline to fill it. Milton Bradley, while questionable if he could play CF, could definitely play LF. Adam Dunn is an impending FA who could fill the gap in LF. Raul Ibanez would likely be acquired cheaply and could play LF. A Murton/Hoffpauir platoon in LF would likely be more productive than a Johnson/Edmonds platoon. So, I'd do this deal, but it's a deal that has no chance of happening in the real world.
  11. I'm curious to who you put in the rotation at the moment. I'd try to trade Marquis, and I would be willing to pick up a decent part of the contract to do it. I wouldn't DFA him at this point. Too much contract eaten, not enough benefit by another pitcher being in his place. Of course, how he pitches over the next couple weeks and how Gallagher does in the same timeframe could change that decision. Well, I was being a bit facetious, but once Marshall is back and Hill is back healthy, either one of those I'd trust more than Marquis. With Hart getting stretched out, I think we have sufficient depth.
  12. I'll probably have to listen to this one on the XM as I make my way to North Richland Hills, TX.
  13. Freezes Him for the K! Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win!
  14. I don't even need Hll's return to say the best option is trade/DFA Marquis.
  15. Ha ha....I thought Helton was gold glove caliber!
  16. i don't know, bobby jenks is real real good. and he's got way more saves than marmol. plus he won a world series. come back and tell me that when marmol has a few years of closing out games under his belt, then they can be comparable. saves are way more important than whatever it is that marmol does. there, is that a good sox fan impression or what? You should also add, "has Marmol ever set his own arm on fire? No. Case closed."
  17. His IQ is below 75 right? He said the guy was a Cards fan. ha ha
