  1. If you read between the lines in this article, it's killing Dayn Perry to say positive things about the Cubs.
  2. The Brewers do have the chips to still make deals. The only question is do they need to save some of those to make deals to replace Sheets and Sabathia when or if they depart. But with Gamel, Escobar, Salome, Gillespie, Brantley and others, they could still probably pull off a few more deals.
  3. I'm pumped about this one, but the Nomar one for a number of reasons. Nomar was a marquee player and that one went right down to the wire. It appeared the deadline had passed without any moves and then boom! Nomar, who seemed like the prize of all prizes. I'm excited about Harden, but it happened so quickly with little rumor or build-up. Sure, we knew Hendry was looking to add a pitcher, but I'm guessing most of us thought it would be after the break and much closer to the deadline.
  4. I might do this tomorrow. What should I see?
  5. The reactions are about the same there as I've seen most places. Most think the Cubs got a good deal. Some mention the injury concern. Many realize that the Cubs are prepared to take the injury hit if it happens.
  6. I think any other day this would be the source of some Hendry jokes. It would have been even better had Hendry said "I'm just laying here on my couch sipping some gin and juice."
  7. Back to the original question, my guess is that Marshall gets bumped to AAA and Eyre takes Cotts spot when he returns. The team would be: C: Soto 1b: Lee 2b: DeRosa SS:Theriot 3b:Ramirez OF: Soriano, Edmonds, Fukudome SP: Zambrano, Harden, Lilly, Dempster, Marquis Bench: Johnson, Cedeno, Blanco, Fontenot, Ward Bullpen: Wood, Marmol, Howry, Eyre, Lieber, Gaudin, Wuertz I don't think they will bump Marquis to the pen, at least not yet. If that's the case, then I guess you could drop Wuertz to AAA and bring up Marshall and slide Marquis to the pen. Also, if they are determined to get another lefty, Cotts could take Wuertz's spot. Based on the way Lou has used Wuertz, this wouldn't surprise me either.
  8. And with the addition of Gaudin, he may pitch even less.
  9. I chose the second option, because I do have concerns over his injuries. On the other hand, I think we have the depth to absorb that if it occurs. So, I'm definitely excited...even if that excitement comes with concern.
  10. I'd like to get a back-up middle infielder who can hit better than Cedeno. Felipe Lopez comes to mind, but he isn't exactly hitting this year. I'd kick the tires on Fuentes. He'd make a good bullpen even better.
  11. Let 'em keep hacking. Dempster could get in trouble, but not if they keep swinging at pitches out of the zone.
  12. I'm not sure if that's what he said or just that they had access to the A's doctors and Harden's medical records.
  13. No Jim, Rich Harden has never been hurt at all. He did say that the Cubs doctors had access to the A's doctors and all of Harden's records.
  14. Hendry is heaping a lot of praise on Billy Beane for being open and honest during the dealing.
  15. It was deep center, but never had a chance of going out.
  16. I wonder if we get an article tomorrow about how the Cubs punched their post season ticket?
  17. Yeah, but he was drafted out of HS. He never played for the Tigers! But...yeah, Geaux Cubs!
