  1. that sounds painful. At his age, this could end his career. I don't know too many 50-yr-olds that can recover from that.
  2. Furthermore, Wainwright gave up 3 runs while recording only 2 outs for Memphis. He may not be as close as the Cardinals would like right now.
  3. Remember folks, this is the same person who used the "history" logic to say the Cubs would lose it this year. We have to consider the source.
  4. Have you seen some of the people from Missouri? Good point... but even before getting to how creepy he looks... oh lord, to have to put up with that voice daily. and just because she's there, doesn't mean she wants to be. She may be scared to leave or else she could end up in his freezer.

  6. Fred, it's starting to appear you're the only one left in here.
  7. Cards are planning on using Wainwright as a closer when he gets back according to Ken Rosenthal.
  8. I'll be eager to see the pitchf/x breakdown on Zambrano after today.
  9. Zambrano is getting abused today. This effing sucks.
  10. Tony LaRussa does not like hearing that. If I could, I'd kick his dog.
  11. I thought about going to Mississippi to watch Tom Glavine's rehab start, but decided against it. I just didn't feel like driving over there...plus it's very hot today.
  12. It's getting time to put a crooked number on Todd.
  13. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! Quit giving up homeruns, Z!
  14. Damnit Ramirez! Why couldn't you elevate a fly ball to tie this mofo. :x
  15. I was waiting for them to turn two on that ground ball.
  16. I'd rather have the kid in the booth over Dan Pleasac.
  17. i'd thank jim very much for his contributions, request he wear a cubs hat to his hall of fame ceremony, and let felix pie actually have a shot at the job next year. he's been beyond amazing for the cubs this year. that doesn't change the fact that he's still pushing 40, injury prone, and has had declining numbers up until his cubs stint. I'd take him on a one year deal in the range of 1.2 to 1.5 million dollars. My guess is he'll get a better deal elsewhere. That's around the money that we paid Ward this year. If Edmonds accepts, he's making what we paid a pinch hitter this year. If he continues to play as well as he has, he's in the outfield mix. If he drops off significantly, we could easily cut that deal. Depending on how much payroll we have to play with and what we have to spend to keep Wood and maybe Dempster or if we try to upgrade the rotation, I might even be willing to go to the 2.5 million range to keep Jim around on a one year deal. In no way do I want to offer him significant dollars or a long term deal.
