  1. A sweep of the Brewers would wipe six games off of the magic number.
  2. Did Auburn just double in the winning run in the ninth?
  3. My guess this move was a compromise by leaving a potential third game in Houston at the end of the season. My hope and expectation is that the third game will not be needed.
  4. Well damn it... I was already half-way to Houston! (I kid, I kid)
  5. Well damn it... I was already half-way to Houston! (I kid, I kid)
  6. The magic number in now ten. Also, the Cubs have six games with the Brewers. Each win against the Brewers lowers the number by two. If we can split those six games, the magic number will be four for the remaining games. I really don't see any way that we don't win the division if we can just split those six with the Brewers.
  7. Does it really make sense to mess with another series to help out this one? Seems like your breaking one thing to fix another. and that is probably why Rangers Ballpark in Arlington isn't being mentioned. There's a conundrum here. Milwaukee is the safest bet due to the roof; however, that one is not palatable to the Astros. Atlanta is available, but the forecast of rain makes that one improbable. At this stage there's no easy solution. My guess is that it ends up in Milwaukee, but it may not happen easily.
  8. The forecast has the rain moving out of Arlington, TX for tomorrow, so there is a potential location. The Rangers start a series on Monday, but have Thursday off. There's a possibility of moving the series there which would be the closest major league venue to the Astros.
  9. I finally talked to my friend in Houston. They are under a curfew for the entire city, no one is allowed into downtown, and most of the city has no electricity or running water. One thing is for certain, no games are going to be played there. I guess now we're just waiting to see when and where we play next. Of course, the Astros website still lists the next game as 1:05 tomorrow at MMP. ](*,)
  10. I'm not sure if it could be configured for baseball, but would the Alamodome in San Antonio be an option. The Astros would likely have a hometown crowd there.
  11. I can understand if a decision hasn't been made as to when and where the games will be played. (Ok, honestly, I can't understand, but I'm trying to be diplomatic.) However, I don't see why an official announcement that Sunday's game has been postponed hasn't been made. The airport is still closed, so there's no way the Cubs get there on Sunday. I'm not sure if it still is, but there was a period of time today that downtown Houston was closed off so damage could be assessed. Just announce the game tomorrow is postponed and take it from there.
  12. maybe DJ wanted to get the hell away from Hawk. wouldn't you? you're dadgum right I would!
  13. In case anyone is wondering, you can pull up some pretty good seats for tomorrow's 1:05 game on the Astros website.
  14. FWIW, the Astros not only aren't answering their phones, but don't have an answering machine picking up either.
  15. Even if they don't have definite plans for the make-up games, the least they could do is go ahead and announce the postponement of Sunday's game.
  16. I tried calling the Astros to see if I needed to start driving to Houston for tomorrow's game, but no one answered the phone.
  17. I can't believe it's 4:30 on Saturday and they haven't annouced what's become of a 1:05 game tomorrow.
  18. I bet if he can throw a slider low and away he'll get him.
  19. It's getting frustrating at this point since a decision was supposed to be made by mid-afternoon. Apparently, if things are too bad for HPD to even let people into downtown Houston, then it's time to move the games.
  20. Right now, no one is being allowed into If they plan on playing, the only people who could get to the game are those already there.
  21. This would be cool for me as I could get to Texas and have a free place to stay there as well.
  22. 90% of the Houston area is without electricity, however downtown and the Medical Center areas are ok due to underground lines. Link. My guess is McLain will try to play these games in Houston. No one will be able to get to them to attend, but he'll keep his gate. If they announce these games are being played, I'm calling the Astros to ask them the safest route into the city so I can come and see what they tell me in regards to my tickets.
  23. Brennan's, a historical restaurant in downtown Houston, is engulfed in flames right now.
  24. Another article on the games being moved to Miller Park. Link.
