I'm glad you've got it all figured out at 19, but you're wrong. While there is a chance that Banks will not survive the child's teen years, it is very likely that the child will be better off emotionally, economically, and socially than she would have been if not adopted by the Banks family. Ernie's wife is 52, and she likely will survive at least into the child's early adulthood. Considering the opportunities this child will have by being a member of the Banks family, my guess her life will be quite enriched. Surely, it won't be a typical family, but since there are more children than prospective adoptive parents, I doubt this decision will screw anyone out of anything. You're entitled to your opinion, regardless of how misguided and incorrect it is.
