  1. That's what I'm rooting for as well. As much as it makes me nearly vomit in my mouth to root for the Cardinals, I think a sweep of the Astros would be in our best interests.
  2. I like the Aramabomb. We need to keep this up! Go Cubs! We still suck.
  3. We've looked a whole lot better the past five games. Let's hope we can keep it up.
  4. What I'm getting out of Houston, Pupura isn't willing to meet the asking price for Dunn, yet. On the other hand, Drayton loves hometown guys and he may take the reigns from his GM on this one as he has in the past and negotiate it himself. How much Houston will give up ultimately depends on who ends up calling the shots. Pupura was the farm director so he values the Houston prospects a lot; Drayton likes to make splashes. If he thinks bringing Dunn to Houston will sell more tickets and make the city love him and the Astros like the Beltran deal did, he may meet the asking price.
  5. Come on....lead off double and nothing! Get a freaking hit, Neifi!
  6. I agree that ownership isn't one of our major problems. On the other hand, Cuban likely would be more willing than the Trib to provide extra cash above the budget to go out and sign an impact player for example Beltran in this year's FA group.
  7. Well not necessarily. Dubois, Mitre and Dope would technically be 2 major leaguers and a prospect. I would do that in a heartbeat. The term "2 major leaguers and a prospect" is pretty vague. For the Astros, that means the Reds asked for Jason Lane, Chris Burke, and Astacio or Buchholz.
  8. Any team that takes on Thome's contract given his current production at Citizen's Bank Park which is a hitter's paradise is crazy.
  9. I like the kid Greenberg, but Grieve could actually be more valuable. We knew Greenberg wasn't going to get too many opportunites to play. Grieve makes a very good option for a LH pinch hitter. Grieve also will take a walk. Welcome back, Ben.
  10. I'm torn as to whether Cuban as owner is a good or bad thing. But if we did have Cuban, I don't think we would ever have to wonder if the Cubs would pony up the money for a premier free agent. They would.
  11. This is bogus. The Cubs would have no interest in Thome. We have our firstbasemen. I could see some interest by the Rangers or Indians if the Phillies want to eat some money on the deal.
  12. In today's Sun Times, Carol Slezak speculates [urlhttp://www.suntimes.com/output/slezak/cst-spt-carol15.html]that Mark Cuban could one day own the Cubs.[/url] Of course, I'll be the first to say this will never happen, but it is an intriguing idea. Cuban wants his teams to win and he isn't afraid to spend money or shake things up. On the other hand, for those that value tradition, Cuban may not be your guy. He's innovative and is willing to try about anything.
  13. Walker is the ideal number two hitter; I would not move him out of that spot. Nomar, even when right, likes to swing at too many first pitches. I prefer someone with more patience in my number two hitter.
  14. I vote no on signing a pitcher on the premise that he will win in the playoffs. I vote no as well.
  15. Our basic formula for the playoffs is to stop sucking. I'm not sure we can do that.
  16. You know Harden has been with Oakland all along, they got Haren from STL, right? Oops...my bad. One letter does make a whole lot of difference. this expert votes that it doesnt make a difference and that you are okay Thanks. And I vote that the Cardinals still gave up too much in that deal. YES. THE EXPERTS ARE HERE! 4 out of 5 experts are idiots. ;) I vote no on that.

  19. Anyone wonder if the Cardinals are starting to regret trading for Mulder?
  20. Well this is Luis's chance to re-establish himself as a legitimate prospect. Hopefully he keeps on hitting.
  21. I don't think they're trying to freeze him. They've had a pitcher and CF hurt. It didn't look like either were faking it.
  22. Tree, It looks like you're in good position to win that Kent Mercker card.
  23. And he's only thrown 52 pitches. Thanks for the heads-up. Just switched over to that game.
  24. The Yanks have cut Quantrill, Karsay, and Stanton recently. Gordon's their 8th inning guy right now, I doubt they move him unless overwhelmed. You have a point, but if they trade for Chacon, couldn't they use him out of the pen? Also, they should be getting Rodriguez back for the pen soon.
