  1. That was a major league slider at the bottom of the zone. I don't blame him for taking it.
  2. Hairston needs to come through here.
  3. Theriot called out looking on a close pitch.
  4. Riot fouled it off...will he bunt with 2 strikes?
  5. I think Jim Edmonds already has.
  6. Macias should have been the last choice to pinch hit, yet he was the first. Unfreakingbelievable.
  7. Another 2-3 night for Murton. Dusty is an idiot.
  8. Grieve would have been more valuable on the bench than the extra pitcher we carried all year. He likely would have been a more productive outfielder than Hairston or Hollandsworth as well.
  9. Murton triples to tie it. Now, why hasn't he been playing all year?
  10. Len is one of the holy trinity.
  11. The bathrooms have issues, but when I go to a game at Wrigley I'm not going to look at the bathrooms. I'm going to the restroom to take a piss. I really don't care what it's like in there. I've peed on trees before, so I don't get concerned about the restroom. Why is it that everyone who wants to criticize Wrigley brings up the bathrooms? I thought only women got that worked up over where they have to take a piss.
  12. Oh I understand the difference. I was simply pointing out that there can be measures of success apart from winning the World Series. And, yes, winning the championship should always be the ultimate goal, but I'd take an extended string of success as well. That being said, I'm not satisfied or proud of what this team has done the last two years. It is quite dissapointing.
  13. If your only definition of success is winning the WS, I think you're too harsh. I'll be happy if I see continuous progress as an organization. I'm as disappointed with the regression in minor league talent for the team in 2005 as I am with the record of the major league organization. I certainly want the Cubs to win the WS, but it is not the only goal with which I'll be satisfied in a given year. I can agree with this statement as well. Take the Atlanta Braves for example. If I were a Braves fan, I think I would be proud of what the team has accomplished over the last 17 years even though there is only one World Championship to show for it. There has been for that organization a consistent run of success. If the Cubs were to put together such a run, I would be quite satisfied even if it only came with one World Championship. I'd likely be satisfied and proud of such a run even if there were no World Championships, yet such a run would only increase my hunger for one.
  14. Sullivan is an idiot. If we want to keep Nomar at third and trade Ramirez, there are much better deals available. How about sign Nomar for third and trade Ramirez and Patterson to the Yankees for Arod and a prospect. Nomar and Arod for third and short...take your pick. Or, trade Ramirez and Patterson to the Braves for A. Jones and Marte.
  15. I could really see Luis Gonzalez being the player the Cubs go after. He wouldn't be a bad acquistion if the price in prospects is cheap. On the other hand, I'd love to get either Quentin or Jackson.
  16. There's no WC happening this year. Move on to football. It's healthier.
  17. Actually I did it because it's not technically against the rules  I had put in a claim for three of them too. :)
  18. There was really no good way around this problem. Uncle Buck played by the rules that were avaiable. It wasn't technically cheating, and it was quite resourceful. Truffle got burned and so he responded by releasing his players. That caused an even greater problem because it created more talent in the pool. I don't have a problem playing with the roster I have now, but I did put in claims for some of the players. (I've since withdrawn those.) However, some of those players might have helped me since Drew, Ramirez, and Sheets are out for me.
  19. Wow...did Murton just hit a HR vs a rightie...again. Yeah, Dusty, the kid can't hit righties.
